You are just being willfully blind if you actually are serious that Starbucks foods are worse for you or lower quality
Hmmm. I have looked at Starbucks menu. a ton of sugary baked goods. I am of the opinion that they are not good for you at all. Bagels, cake pops, cookies and brownies, croissants, dessert bars, loaves and cakes, muffins.

A ton of sweet drinks.

Nah, it is very simple. If your lunch is 1300 calories, you are going to eat more than 2500 calories per day, and you will gain weight (unless you run a marathon every day).
Hmmm, you got me there. I just can't figure out how you know what else I eat every day.

I don't eat lunch. I don't eat breakfast.

Not so simple after all, huh?

3 meals a day - who came up with this axiom of modern life? Totally based on nothing.

Somehow I do not believe you, no offence intended. If you only have one meal a day, that rates 1300 calories, you will be seriously under nourished.

Something does not compute.

A male need somewhere between 2,000 and 2.500 calories a day to maintain a steady weight. For most people, if lunch is 1,300 calories, that will put them over 2,500 calories a day. That is why a Grande Big Mac Meal is unhealthy.

Pay attention to what I said. You clearly didn't.

I said:

" Also, one slice of pizza is being compared to a big - mac - I don't think anyone considers one slice of pizza a meal.
Your statement was clear as day.

So is mine. I don't think anyone considers one big mac a meal.

It's the low quality ingredients, massive quantities of them, and substandard food handling
A common theme many people go by is make sure to order something unique (no pickle on burger, no salt on fries) simply to avoid getting the garbage left under heat lamps for hours

Meat is meat but McDs meat just tastes awful in general, even when directly compared to other fast food chains (King, Wendy, Harvey, etc)
Mayo (which is a core McD product to make all their sauces) has tons of fat and calories (and again, the "special sauce" just tastes bad; millions of healthier alternatives)
Cheese is good but McD does not use real cheese, that processed stuff is again full of fats and salts
I will also throw a bash in against the "best" fries nonsense (McD has some of the worst in their field)

I am baffled at how you think anything McDs serves is better than fresh made foods (eg pizza)

You are just being willfully blind if you actually are serious that Starbucks foods are worse for you or lower quality
Tims is a toss up (some foods are good, some not so good) but their menu is certainly healthier than McD is
Holy shit.... I agreed with everything you just said here.

You don't consider a cheeseburger a meal. So why should everyone kowtow to your view of how to eat their way through life?

All by itself. Not usually.

And I've seen some damn big slices of pizza. They even cut them in half.

???
We were discussing FOOD not desserts lmao

Yes McD also has milkshakes and pastries
Who the fuck would EVER order something like that as a MEAL???

Compare a wrap or an egg bite or a sandwich at Starbucks vs anything McDicks has on their menus

Well, clearly , since the Big MAc is the best selling burger of all time, many many people disagree with you.
lol where did you hear this bullshit? The same propaganda machine who tells you Tims is the best coffee of all time?

I mean even from a common sense / logic standpoint the best you could possibly claim is best selling AMERICAN burger since advent of fast food

Please refer to my post where I normalized for protein.
Normalized lol
All that matters is the SERVING size since there is no way to order a normalized portion

You sound like one of those dolts over on rfd who "normalize" the cost of Halloween candy per g trying to claim the "best" value while ignoring the inherent issues with doing so

Ok, I broke down and had one last week for lunch because I love Big Macs. Every time I eat one, I still want a little more, so Grand Big Mac seemed like a good idea. I have to say that it is too much Big Mac. After finishing my meal, that was it, no more food for the rest of the day. So for the person who said that you will gain weigh, I do not see it happening to me. I can only eat so much food in one day.

Who says my one meal is 1300 calories? did I say that ? No. No No No. I did not.

I'm your huckleberry....

so paragraph number one DESTROYED.

next, yes, you must normalize for something. If you don't realize that, then you will happily compare the nutrional value of a smartie to a roast turkey dinner.

If a slice of pizza is way smaller than a burger, you must make a fair comparison by equating the two somehow.

I fail to see how anyone cannot understand that.

No, Serving size can be whatever you want it to be, that is why in grocery stores that is

I have said nothing about Tims.

Well, Ok, what burger do you feel has outsold the Big Mac?

Of course this is untrue

Serving size at any restaurant (fast food or otherwise) is based on the portion they serve you
Normalizing it is ridiculous

Can you imagine "normalizing" a portion at the Cheesecake Factory and trying to claim that said smaller portion is healthy and within guidelines for food consumption

You walk into McD and order a Big Mac you get a Big Mac
You walk into a pizza place and order a Slice you get a Slice (and I dunno how fat you are but I have NEVER heard of anyone ordering multiple slices for a meal but whatever)

Easy. A grande big mac meal is 1300 calories.
That is what we are talking about, right.

this has turned into a hair splitting thread.................if you eat at McD, BK, or any other fast food joint on a regular, or semi regular basis..........you may or may not gain weight but you probably on you way to clogging your arteries

.

Of course portion size matters, if you compare ONE Oreo to a Dairy Queen Hot fudge sundae, you need to normalize for a similar quantities of something.

A single slice of pizza is in no way comparable to an entire big mac.

You have to 'gross up' the pizza to compare fairly.

You have to either equalize per calorie, per grams of protein, or per something else.

Ok, so compare a Big MAc with a Boston Pizza Small Pizza then

..................................................Big Mac..................Boston Pizza individual pepperoni Pizza

Calories ...............................550................................710
Protein.....................................25...................................35
Carbs........................................45..................................89
Saturated Fat...........................11....................................12

so where's the big difference? The main number that is significantly different is the carbs in a pizza, nearly double.

But, again, the numbers need to be fairly compared on the basis of some common denominator.

You can take it either way but this bizarre obstinance is fairly laughable

You either compare 1 portion (1 pizza slice vs 1 big mac) or 1 meal (1 pizza slice + chips + pop vs 1 big mac + fries + pop)

In either scenario McD is the big loser

Noone is going to try ordering 1.5 meals in some bizarre attempt to "normalize" the number of grams in a meal
People order a slice/burger or they order a combo
That's it

*edit
And why the fuck would you choose an "Individual Pizza" as a serving anyways? lol
I can start an informal poll but I highly doubt anyone orders that as a "normal" lunch/dinner

An individual pizza is 8"
8 fucking inches??? You think that is "similar" to ordering a burger???
I dunno how obese you got dude but I doubt very many people will consume that as a "normal" meal
No wonder you are quoting skyhigh calorie counts
