*sigh* I wish people would evaluate trades properly.
Just goes to show why all those media people and fans are just that, especially the ones that were irate over the Arron Sanchez trade which clearly there was no market for. Lets break down the trades shall we?
So the Astros get Joe Biagini and Sanchez who did fuck all for them and barley played, while we got Fisher back, a possible prospect who put up good numbers in the minors which we then flipped for
Paxton Schultz. So we basically gave away nothing for Paxton Schultz. So far the trade is a push. If Paxton Schultz turns out to be anything at all, we win that trade.
Now on to Marcus Stroman. Stroman makes 11 starts in total with an ERA of 3.77 for the two years he pitched under contract. (before signing again) In return we got Anthony Kay who has been awful, and the real person they wanted
Simeon Woods Richardson. Again, worst case scenario, Simeon Woods Richardson doesn't pan out and it's a push. If Richardson becomes any type of serviceable player, we win the trade. (He's only 20)
In essence we gave up nothing for nothing or possibly something. The trades are either a push or we win end up winning them. There's also a possibility we flip them for player that helps us win now.
Yet another very smart move by Atkins. These guys know their shit, and they're going to bring a WS back to the 6ix
