I support voter id laws and due process like a sane rational human being should. If you're against that you don't belong in a civil society.
Off topic here but so do I.

With caveat that they be free and easy to obtain. No monkeying around with denying access.

Like you said no sane person would disagree with that.

I would think MLB is simply just fed up with trying to hide the last flurry of issues a couple years before his HOF induction. “We turned a blind eye last time, voted you in, and this is how you repay us? Enough is enough. Get lost pal.”

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY confirmed on Monday that Roberto Alomar has resigned from its board of directors.

Board chairman Jane Forbes Clark announced the board accepted Alomar's letter of resignation that was submitted on Saturday.
The move comes in the wake of Major League Baseball's termination of Alomar as a special advisor to commissioner Rob Manfred on Friday after an investigation into a workplace sexual harassment claim levied against the 53-year-old Alomar. Manfred also placed the 12-time All-Star on the league's ineligible list.
The Toronto Blue Jays, with whom Alomar spent five seasons and won a pair of World Series in 1992 and 1993, also announced they would be cutting ties with Alomar, removing his name from Rogers Centre's Level of Excellence and taking down a banner commemorating his induction into the Hall of Fame in 2011.
The Baseball Hall of Fame confirmed that Alomar would not be removed from the Hall of Fame, noting that his enshrinement reflected his eligibility and the perspective of the Baseball Writers' Association of America at the time.

Why do you doubt me. I'm true to my word. I will never support the team again.
What is your definition of support?

Not spend any money on anything BJ?
Not watch games?
Not cheer for them?
Cheer for them to lose?

Fans that were around back in those days especially deserve an explanation as to what happened.

Central Ont. between here & there
Because if you love the sport and team, there's no chance it suddenly ends because they took a former players name off a fucking wall....
I stopped following the Jays in 94 during the strike.. have not followed them since. if someone did not tell me of the bat flip, had no idea. Used to go to 20-30 games a year back at Ex. stadium & Rogers Centre. Even playoffs & world series runs. Was a big supporter. After RA spit in the face stopped following him. Might catch the odd game on radio now, that's it

But why? Because you don't know the details of a sexual assault accusation against a former player who has had some questionable incidents before? A player who is being thrown out of baseball after an independent body investigated and recommended he be banned? No one was talking about this, it came out of nowhere, it wasn't MLB overreacting to public pressure because there was none, which suggests there is something is there. Then Alomar releases a weak statement saying he's disappointed by the decision without insistence that he is innocent.
MLB brought this to media attention, laid its heaviest punishment, the Jays are taking down his banner and ending affliation to him and his charitable work........ that should tell you there was some major shit discovered.

Ending your support of the Jays over this is a very strange hill to die on if you are a fan of the team. If they are ridding themselves of association to a rapist or at least a sexual offender, they should be applauded not boycotted.

What Robby did or didn't do is one thing but why did the Jays signed a liar and a cheat to a $150mm contract?
99% of MLB players would have gone along with the Astros sign stealing if they were on the team, ergo pretty much every MLB player is a liar and cheater by that definition. The Astros didn't just happen to build a roster of guys who are dirty or would keep their mouths shut.
Springer was one of the more open and apologetic after the scandal came to light.

Ok, not to get too far off topic. The Astros also signed Roberto Osuna.

Yes that organization is not a model franchise. That and the assistant GM who celebrated Osuna's signing specifically to a group of female reporters demonstrates how bad that culture was in its obsession with winning at all costs.

for every 1000 people that say they’re going to "stop supporting the team”, maybe 1 person actually does.

Most people don’t stop supporting the team consciously. If they stop supporting the team, is usually other factors like life style changes, or they get bored with the actual sport..etc.

Ok, the irony.

The Astros traded for Roberto Osuna (later re-signed him).

I just googled Osuna to learn that he’s a free agent. 26 year old 2.74 career era. Free agent in May. Omg.

Yes, he is UFA. Wonder who, if anybody, will sign him? The Astros of recent years were definitely ethically challenged.

What is this 'googled' you write of?

I don't think teams are lining up to sign 'alleged' domestic abusers, especially those with shoulder/arm issues.
