As mentioned earlier, UBI is a subsistence living, meant for students, the destitute and those transitioning to something else. There will be no rush of the masses to get it. It's a safety net, not a la-z-boy. It wouldn't even cover most people's rent in a big city
depends what the rate was either way its too costly and would fail

We are a consumerist society. With more automation there is less available work, and this will only continue. Yet, production levels will increase and the economy will flourish. IF people have money to spend.

The way it works is this, the products that are produced get bought, that money enters the economy, that money then goes into the UBI and those people buy more products. And so the cycle continues. It is really very simple.

So please tell me if you’re on UBI what are you expected to do to get that money? sit at home and do nothing so that’s getting paid for sitting on your ass

you cut the definition to try and support your side
That's exactly what you did, yes.

Ps being a citizen is not work
What an odd thing to say.

Which will cause the tax rate to skyrocket which in turn will encourage many in the middle class to quit working and also get paid to sit on their asses and do nothing
So you're saying everyone will be happier?

You better dig deeper into your post. CAnada is modelling its UBI to be comparable to Chinas. But you wouldnt know that.
And you know that how, exactly? Can you show us this China UBI plan so we can see if it is a good model?

But if people have dignity, how can you take advantage of them?
Don't you see how important that is to some people?

try again if that worked why isn't EVERYONE doing it? That's because it doesn't work article below says it would cost $465 BILLION per year to run in Canada

FUSS: Liberal plan for universal basic income ignores huge price tag | Toronto Sun

A recent study analyzed the cost implications of a UBI based on the $2,000 monthly benefit provided by the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) program. If all Canadians aged 18 to 64 received annual payments of $24,000 with no strings attached, then the annual price tag would reach $465 billion. For context, that’s almost $100 billion more than all federal spending in 2019/20.

failed in Finland

would have required a 30% tax increase to fund the program, finns already pay 50% tax

Get rid of indexed public sector pension plans and change to a contribution retirement plan without any fixed benefits or public taxpayer funded obligations.
Remove many of the perks that only public sector workers get - no banked sick days, increase the co-pay health and dental or offer a fixed annual amount.
Reallocate a bit more of the savings to the legitimately poor. That alone would save billions upon billions annually.
UBI is a socialist idea that is doomed to be abused and will result in a lower national standard of living.
So let the public sector put their money where their mouth is - or let them eat cake.

Dude.
You posted the first line only.
I posted another line because the definition is more complex. I even pointed out that it was another definition from the same place you took yours.
Then you accused me of editing it and posted the whole thing (thus demonstrating you had selectively edited it originally)
Now are throwing a tantrum saying I edited it to frame it when that is what you did in the first place.

You're embarrassing yourself.

I prefer a minimum wage to UBI and would even support government small business subsidy to meet that minimum. Everyone should be able to make enough money to live if they are working. UBI takes away the incentive to better one self.

If UBI was in effect, I might choose beach towel inspector as a profession.

Oblivion
UBI castrates the ambition and motivation of the poor smart and hungry person to strive to do better and will only be an appetizer for the main course as more government social programs will be seen as an entitlement and thus a carrot dangled by politicians who wish to survive. After this pandemic is over, the ”shadow pandemic” will linger on for a good while longer with both necessary government aid and unnecessary government waste in the mix”

I've spoken very openly on this forum as to why I don't think the 1%s dont want this. Their wealth relies on inequality.

Or maybe people stop engaging you because you blatantly ignore facts, post complete propaganda, and are irrational and illogical?

Where have you posted ANY facts at all to back up your claims ???? I posted articles that show the cost of ubi is unsustainable but you ignore them and dismiss them because they prove your wrong.
Not to mention the claim above that being a citizen is work is so outrageous I do want to see him explain that

That was a successful experiment. As was the Ontario one until Doug Ford killed it. It's worked where tried and should be permanently expanded. And there is nothing about it based on anything in Chiba. You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
It was such a great thing that Canada ended it I guess?

People were dropping out of the program because it wasnt enough to live on.

Think you can live on $16,000-$22,000 a year???????

Look it up yourself.

Its called "Social credit score".

It even penalizes you for not cooperating.

You dont find it strange that many countries are experimenting with the idea lately???

Almost like the whole world is in a 3 wave at the same time????

I am not your personal Siri. What claims did I make? All I have posted was theory and saying I myself wouldn't even be eligible for the program because my income exceeds the amount it would be.

You claimed I posted no facts I posted the facts you chose to ignore them or dismiss them you cannot dispute what I posted without posting evidence showing differently
