who cares what the gap is if you want more work hard come up with a plan or idea that makes you money lots of people had stupid ideas that made a mint, or take that risk you believe in

Just because some of us do very very well finically does not mean we need to 'share" it with anyone

you are NOT entitled to anything

Canada is the epitome of the nanny state meaning people who do not work hard, simply cannot work for whatever reasons or do not want to work at all are looked after by the state in terms of basic needs. As you said they may end up with very little but the state guarantees their survival which is a key reason why many wish to immigrate here because their homelands are not nanny states. Choosing not to work in Canada is an option due to generous social assistance programs.
People emigrate to Canada for many reasons. Violence in their home country, religious persecution, sexual discrimination, a totalitarian state, a narco-state, or lack of opportunity. These could be described as Push Factors.

Others emigrate to Canada for our democracy, opportunities to succeed, education system or health care system. These could be described as Pull Factors.

Canada does not tell people what to do in every aspect of their life. Canada does not have a birth to grave system that is in the image of the Nanny state.

Canada does, or at least attempts on our good days, attempts to give everyone a chance to be successful. But it is up to you to be successful. Ensuring that people survive is ethical, not nanny like.

Which is why contact is totally fine with people robbing him to get stuff because he isn't entitled to keep it.

wtf are you going on about? seriously you make no sense what does robbery have to do with this thread?

or are you threatening to rob me?

I have earned everything I have I have made decisions that worked out and benefited me greatly.

perhaps you have not and feel your entitled to things you have not earned?

I am going on with the logical conclusion of what you said. " you are NOT entitled to anything ".
I assumed you were making a statement about your beliefs that no one is entitled to anything.

Maybe you just meant "You" to mean "everyone who isn't me".

I see. Your problem is in the definition of the word "earn".

Since you took the Merriam Webster we could just use the other definition they list:
to come to be duly worthy of or entitled or suited to

It's cute when they act like it is only them contributing to society. They must make mad billions to be the only ones paying taxes and keeping the Country up.
No one is entitled to free money to sit on their ass you liberals give your head a shake if everyone was being given free money the country will be bankrupt or you’d be paying a 95% tax rate if you want go ahead and give your money away I don’t work to give others a free ride

it’s cute when some comments without reading the whole thread nowhere do I claim I am the only one who pays taxes

the majority in this thread oppose ubi

I do a lot of 'staffing' for my work. A lot of those jobs are entry level. Internet support, basic multimedia, etc... All at home jobs. Salary around 20$/hour (below that we simply could not find anyone that can make real sentence when they talk).

When the pandemic hit our field boomed. I needed 3 times more staff. But then it was fucking impossible because people I contacted preferred to stay at home and collect 2k doing fuck all.... I was pissed.

So I found some internet agencies website out in the philipines, brazil and east europe that actually vouch employees and many different fields. They are hired month by month at a fixed salary. I have hired about 45 since May 2020. They are great! They don't complain. They do the task needed and are very happy to work with us remotely. All that at a salary that is much lower. You may say those are entry level jobs it won't affect us... What do you think will happen when these people stay on the job for many months... They will know more and be promoted.

So a country must be careful about the impact of basic income. The last few months showed me that white collar jobs are at risk from moving overseas like the blue collar shops did in the past 25 years...

And yet somehow you're convinced that's what is going on.

Of course. Which some would argue is a point in favor of UBI.

Personally, I am more in favor of a jobs guarantee than UBI, because I think things play out better.

you cut the definition to try and support your side

So please tell me if you’re on UBI what are you expected to do to get that money? sit at home and do nothing so that’s getting paid for sitting on your ass

You're being paid for being a citizen. That you don't like the work involved is your problem.

So you admit now that on ubi your paid to sit on your ass and do nothing. Ps being a citizen is not work

Which will cause the tax rate to skyrocket which in turn will encourage many in the middle class to quit working and also get paid to sit on their asses and do nothing

You better dig deeper into your post. CAnada is modelling its UBI to be comparable to Chinas. But you wouldnt know that.

How about you look into many failed attempts of UBI in N.America. One good example is in Manitoba not too long ago. You did know about that, right? https://www.bbc.com/worklife/article/20200624-canadas-forgotten-universal-basic-income-experiment
That was a successful experiment. As was the Ontario one until Doug Ford killed it. It's worked where tried and should be permanently expanded. And there is nothing about it based on anything in Chiba. You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

As mentioned earlier, UBI is a subsistence living, meant for students, the destitute and those transitioning to something else. There will be no rush of the masses to get it. It's a safety net, not a la-z-boy. It wouldn't even cover most people's rent in a big city
