Seems simple enough for those few seconds it takes to drive through the school zone drive like an angel, after that speed up.
I seem to recall that they post signs that you are approaching a speed camera.
Pretty sure Waze also warns you.
I've been punching in all addresses in neighbourhoods (there are a few hotspots in my area where the police are using their new F150 stealth trucks to speed trap) not mine into Waze. Photo and redlight camera warnings are lovely......

ALL the photo radar are IN school or community safety zones

There is not a single one that is not
There are school safety zones, they need a bit more caution for those really stupid, or inattentive 6 y/o's. How do you justify reduced speeds around a school but not around the kids house? How do you justify enforcing lower speeds in the summer, weekends, holidays, non-school hours (plus 1 hour before and after), during codivd lockdowns etc?

If the speed camera can be set to a specific speed or above, it can be set to a specific, day, time or calendar option.

I was listening to John Tory on 1010 stating in school zones, they have set them at 5Km over with an increase in the ticket as the speed goes up. He justified using the kids safety but I think dinging someone for 5KM over is ridiculous
I'm really starting to hate this guy

In Hamilton they put them up where a kid has been killed.
In some cases in at a cross walk where a crossing guard works or where a cop would do a day with a radar gun.
its a huge pain to get this ticket but it does identify the idiots who speed through and puts a cop downtown instead of in the burbs.
The knucklhead who killed a kid last year with his truck already had a license suspensions and other driving offenses. The
ticket carries no demerit points and does not identify the driver but it does impact the driver.
i don't like it. We shouldn't need it. When it starts to cost more than it generates a bean counter at the city will stop replacing them when they break down or get vandalized.

When you call 911 with a request for an officer they will send one of three things to your home, a red light camera, a speed bump, a photo radar camera. There are no more cops.

How long does it take for the ticket to arrive in the mail? I saw a flash in the rearview mirror when I was going west on Sheppard past Fairview Mall. This was last Saturday night. I just accelerated a bit to change lanes.

Inconvenient fact. The overwhelming majority of speed monitoring/ticketing is done in specific areas due to citizen (neighbor) complaints. It's possible to maintain speeds as low as 10mph in most vehicles...

4 more KM over and it could have been three points with a cop.

They put a bunch in Durham, I avoid those areas when I drive. I just go one street down or one over and by-pass.

Not because I speed but I worry that going even 5 over will get you a ticket and I think that is ridiculous.

Maybe. But, the camera pointing North on Jane right before Eglinton maybe technically in the "community safety zone", but it's surely not designed to enforce it. At least it's in a 50 km/h stretch.
Jane + Eglinton is a school and a park there

The pictures do get reviewed first
Sometimes you get lucky and they do not issue a ticket (I had that happen once)

Simple. Don't speed. They put them where they did for a reason...because they're in residential neighbourhoods and they want to keep those communities safe. If it were up to me, it would be a 1-year license suspension.
If the city\province were really serious about getting people to follow the rules they would make the penalty's so ridiculously high that people wouldnt think about breaking them but instead they keep them at a level that people can afford but makes it hurt. Fines and penalties are a pretty large part of the cities budget.

I figure, there is always a price to pay in life. You just have to choose your price.

In this, the price you pay for being able to drive free of monitoring for the most part, we put up with a few photo radar machines that if we really want, we can avoid.

If we want lower taxes overall, we pay the price of having some photo radar cash grabs around and at a price people can afford - ish.

As are property taxes late fees.
I remember David Miller bragging about how much the city was making on late fees, just because people were a few days late.

I hated David Miller too btw. Fucking commie bastard.
Him and his property transfer tax can go fuck himself

I think it's good. I live in a block where I see a few assholes drive up to 60 on a 40 with kids playing (including mine). I'm just not hurrying anymore...take your time, drive like you're 80 years old and you're golden...

You probably don’t drive, and couldn’t afford a car anyway, Socialist love to punish those who have what they do not.
