Just pay the ticket. The odds of your insurance going up is probably zero. The only way your insurance company will know about the ticket is IF they do a random check and the ticket infraction shows up. Heard this from an insurance agent. And don't mention it either.

So I was on those rate comparing sites and here's the ironic thing ...

My new rates with my current insurance company is $2,200. This is with no disclosure of speeding ticket.

I searched around and CAA is offering $1800, with the ticket disclosed.
Yeah, I saved a shitload of money for my wife and I with CAA.
Maybe this post should be about shopping your car insurance around every couple of years to keep them honest.

Pay it.
I'm sure the officer made notes that he reduced ticket if you decide to fight it.. Having a clean record when he got the ticket was probably why the officer reduced it in the first place.
Yes, 3 years.
It might affect your insurance rates if you switch companies in the next 3 years.
Listen to Joe, he nailed it 100%

Fight it and the ticket won't go to trial for another 16-24 months as they are backed up now with a thousands of cases ahead of you. Chances are the officer may not show up for the date and also have to prove via speed odometer your son was speeding. They need to have evidence that your son was speeding and if not presented your case is dismissed. If he had speed odometer he will be questioned why he lowered speeding ticket.
