WOW - defence decided to go for coffee after the 5-1 lead. Where was the team that played the Habs the previous game. Agree with @Indiana that FA31 needs a rest.

What’s more embarrassing, losing to a zamboni driver or blowing a 4 goal lead against the worst team in the league ? Is this part of the growing process of this core (namely Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Rielly/Andersen/Tavares) or is there some inherent flaws with this group ? With a loss like this, no lead is safe and this team should never be accused of running up the scores.

All you doom and gloomers...they are in first place.

A shit loss a third of the way thru the season won’t even be remembered when the playoffs start.

What I found interesting was Ottawa was not doing any hitting. At least nothing noticeable. Ottawa is the highest hitting team in the league but didn't look like it. The last Montreal game really was the only game where it was noticeable a team used that as a tactic. Ottawa's comeback wasn't because they started hitting either. According to Dart Leafs were tired from scoring too much too quick and had no more energy for the 3rd period.

That use to be my softball team's strategy...get the other team too tired from running bases.

Jack Campbell update!
Injured January 24th, we're 25 days out from that.
On Tuesday, Coach Keefe: Jack is back on the ice, "He's at least 1 week away."

Dart thinks it doesn't matter who plays Andersen or Hutch on Monday and Thurs because it's the same team. Well, the season is not 3 games. They also play Montreal this Saturday so giving Andersen another day of rest before playing Montreal is a benefit but of course Dart doesn't see that.
Dart thinks playing Hutch on Monday and Andersen back to back Wed and Thurs makes a whole lot of sense only to himself. Reasoning being Monday and Thursday both against Ottawa. On top of that play Andersen Saturday against Montreal.

Hmmm, playing FA31 back to back Wednesday/Thursday, then into the fire on Saturday.
Yeah, that's what an NHL coach would do, play his 1st stringer 3 games in 4 nights.

Maybe that's something the McGill hockey coach would do?

Can someone tell me that it’s just coincidence that Kadri and Taraves had career years with Marner on the wing and now Matthews is well on the way to his best year yet, while JT is struggling when stuck with Nylander ?

I think we are realizing that Marner is one of the leagues best players.
