I was hoping some would stay out of this and not use it to post misinformation.
I am just expressing my frustration after almost a year of this now and just not seeing us match these predictions. And not match them by a lot. Again, some of that has been because of precautions and I believe that. But some have been way off and I think this new one is as well.
It will be interesting to see, now that we are re-opening, if we hit the 10k prediction. Because that is what this prediction is. That if the lockdown is lifted now and not in three weeks, and if the British variant takes hold then we should hit 10K.
I will have to wait and see. But I can tell you if this doesn’t happen, I’m seriously losing my trust in these numbers.
Again; not enough to make me disobey SAH orders or lockdowns or stop wearing a mask, but I won’t be so inclined to stay home as must as possible like suggested when we were reopen between stage 1 and 2. Because that has been the message. If you could, do it. I did and now I’m starting to feel that maybe I didn’t really need to.
You’re frustrated over the fact that the worst case scenario didn’t come true because our preventive measures have worked,
That’s nothing to be frustrated about.
And they are not way off, those worst case scenarios would have come true and were based on no preventive measures being taken originally and now not being followed by people or more strict preventive measures not being undertaken.
As well no right thinking government should just sit back and let the worst case scenario's happen, if number of daily cases start to increase (which they will) you will see the government rolling back the phases if not shutdowns again.
Your frustration should be at the COVIDIOTS who are the cause of the extended shutdowns. It's really not that hard to wear a mask, socially distance and stay within one's household but for selfish #whataboutme people in Canada it has been and that's the issue we've faced from the beginning.
You think 10,000 cases per day is an overblown number just look at Sweden which with a smaller population than Ontario had a daily high of over 11,000 cases in December and were consistenly between 7,000 - 10,000 cases/day for over a month, and that's with a population that listens to their government far more than Canadians do, with a significantly less number of #whataboutme type of people.
