So I am sure that everyone has seen the news article lately of all the doom and gloom predictions of the COVID cases rising.

I saw one today that said we could see cases in Ontario hit 10K a day.

I have seen these predictions this whole pandemic and they have never hit the numbers that have been predicted.

Now some of them don’t meet the predictions because the lockdown measures worked. But some are just off the mark totally.

Now you all know I believe COVID is real and I respect the virus for what it is and the pandemic as a whole but when I see these predictions come out and then I see them not being even close to the realm of numbers, I have to admit, I start losing trust in them.

I don’t believe we will hit 10k if the lockdown is ended. Even with the new UK variant that is expected to dominate in the cases.

Now I totally admit I could be wrong. I am not a specialist and I have trust them up to this point but I’m losing faith as time goes on. I’m already so sick of this pandemic and with numbers not match predictions, I am almost ready to throw in the towel.

I will still wear masks and social distance out in public but I’m almost ready to start seeing friends and family again. Sit down and have a coffee and chat. I can only do so much FaceTime (unless it is the other kind of face time, hahahaha) and the only thing that stops me is caring for an elderly parent. I would die if I caught and passed on COVID and they died because of it. I would simply die.

But then someone pointed out to me the other day, I would die if I was in a car accident that was my fault and I killed them that way.

If predictions are not being met (which is good) and not because of precautionary methods but wrong data analysis, and we are now almost a year into this, how are we (I) suppose to keep plugging on doing my part?

Thoughts on a Saturday morning .... LOL.

Anyway, discuss. Politely

I don't see it as doom and gloom because

1) the government will lock down once it reaches a certain point. They are relaxing because numbers are going down but will turn it back up if numbers surpass a certain point and ICU's start filling up.

2) The vaccine is working and once we get our share as other vaccines are approved, we will be fine.

They have predicted every time nonsense and model has not been right once
We just finished another lockdown claiming hospitals would be overrun in Jan (they were not)

I think people be on drugs to believe half the nonsense in the news

What people need to realize is in Canada the reason we avoided seeing those predictions become true is because of the preventive measures we have taken, (shutdowns, mask wearing in public, social distancing, testing, and proper hygiene) minus the selfish COVIDIOTS who are the sole cause of these shutdowns and numbers of cases.

The information they are relaying to is this. In Spring or summer we will be seeing a 3rd wave, and the 3rd wave will be worse than what we have seen before. There is factual reasoning behind these predictions and it's this.
Many people who will be vaccinated are going to think just because they are vaccinated they can take their masks off in public, attend parties or hangout in large groups out of their immediate households, and be fine to either not catch the virus or not get sick from it if they are infected with COVID-19. Facts are even with the vaccine one can still catch the virus and spread it on to others. Chances of getting really sick from it or dying is a lot less than what it is now.

I have no doubt that the 3rd wave will happen and it will be worse than before. Want evidence look at the COVIDIOT crowd posting their nonsense just on this board.
These people a full year later still have not understood how preventive measures work and what the purpose of the preventive measures such as shutdowns, social distancing, mask wearing in public, contact tracing, testing and proper hygies is.

I don't know how many times I've said this regarding doing whats for the greater good of our communities, we are substantially worse than many other countries specially those from the Far East such as Japan, Taiwan, South Korea....etc.

You are used to being proved wrong so:

From the very beginning the epidemiologists' model predicted a second wave.
Second implies the virus went away in first place

As well historically a "second wave" happened in a different year for other virus

Its cute you think I have been "proven wrong" when in reality you guys are the wrong ones

I will adhere to protocols once I get the vaccine. To a point. I will stay at home if that is the order. I will always wear masks, I do all the time anyway, I will social distance and not gather in huge groups. But if things are re-opened and my family and I are vaccinated, then I will visit with friends and family in low numbers, or individually, meet one on one with employees and start some in-person consults in socially distanced ways, clean ways and with masks. And will most likely go back to escorting, with regulars.

I get what DD99 is saying-ish. But if one is wearing masks, socially distancing, meeting one on one, and vaccinated, I don’t see how one can do anymore.

And this should be what you keep in mind for now, later comes sooner than you think

You should continue to walk right into hospitals :ROFLMAO:, maybe they'll finally just let you walk into the COVID building/ward/floor. :ROFLMAO:
We all know you hate wearing a mask, it's a win win for all. :ROFLMAO:

Act this just proves how clueless you are regarding the actual world outside
Covid "building" / "floor" lol

There is no hospital in entire province that ever had admissions high enough to rope off a section of the hospital
We have what, 800 people in hospitals across ON as we speak?

As if you have walked through a hospital to know anything about anything. Stop talking out of your ass and enjoy Valentine's Day holding hands with Cris Saccocia.

Wrong. (surprise, surprise)

It means that infections decrease from the first peak, which bottomed out in the summer, but then rise up again to a second peak. They predicted this in March and it played out exactly as predicted to January of this year.

5-freethinking

6-OK- freethinking based on observations

7-OK

8-Keep wearing masks and social distance as required when out. See a very small selection of friends and family for coffee or their face (your business). Use due diligence when around your parent like you already are.

9-Would be your fault yes. Not the same as 8 above they are wrong.

10-By trusting in yourself based on your observations over the past year- with support from people you trust if available.

11-It's Sunday morning.

I was hoping some would stay out of this and not use it to post misinformation.

I am just expressing my frustration after almost a year of this now and just not seeing us match these predictions. And not match them by a lot. Again, some of that has been because of precautions and I believe that. But some have been way off and I think this new one is as well.

It will be interesting to see, now that we are re-opening, if we hit the 10k prediction. Because that is what this prediction is. That if the lockdown is lifted now and not in three weeks, and if the British variant takes hold then we should hit 10K.

I will have to wait and see. But I can tell you if this doesn’t happen, I’m seriously losing my trust in these numbers.

Again; not enough to make me disobey SAH orders or lockdowns or stop wearing a mask, but I won’t be so inclined to stay home as must as possible like suggested when we were reopen between stage 1 and 2. Because that has been the message. If you could, do it. I did and now I’m starting to feel that maybe I didn’t really need to.
