TB, Boston, Toronto are all leading their Divisions. Imagine next year. Boston was President's Trophy winner last year and TB the Cup Champs. This year TB doing it without Kucherov and Boston without their former captain. Leafs doing it without Thornton
you forgot about robertson.

Side note here.

We've covered athletes who've gone ass up financially, how about the flip side of the coin. After his hockey career ended, former Leaf Pat Hickey went back to McMaster University and completed his degree in accounting. He's been a fixture at the TSX for a long time now. I don't know his net worth but I have a hunch he's up there with Mats Sundin and Borje Salming. That's him on the left.

Matthews is only 14 goals from passing Phil Kessel and will probably take fewer games to beat him to be the highest-scoring American in Leafs history.

Matthews: GP: 293 Goals: 168

Kessel: GP: 446 Goals: 181

Braden Holtby actually played a good game, he's finding out that you can't go home.

The Canucks defense is horrid, they looked so Vanculo. Howling mistakes on Hyman and Mathews second goal. Wayne Simmonds stock is rising, he knows how to take out the garbage.

Marner 3 assists but zero goals so he sucks.
Matthews 11 games played 10 goals.

For those who think this iteration of the Leafs defense gets bounced around they don't.
They no longer have players like Gardiner who panics and doesn't like to take hits or Barrie who can't win puck battles or Marincin who can't make a pass if his life depended on it.
so your saying saying the 'D' is solid now?

Glad to help, skippy.
George I have to admit you were right, Gudbranson sucks. If he had any talent he wouldn't be playing for the Senaturds. I got taken in by his one good year with the Panthers.

The Canucks Vanculo defense is getting ripped to shreds by the Leafs. The most flagrant missplay was Hyman's goal, you can't expect Edler to cover a power forward. Oops he's actually a defenseman, I'm confusing him with Lars Eller.

It was for those who think the Leafs are just a bunch of weaklings and to beat them just need to hit them.
Let's put it this way, you have to be a fool not to see that Muzzin out and Marincin in vs Columbus hurt them immensely.
Do you not even remember what Barrie looked like on the Leafs? For such a highly touted defenseman he was scary even as a bottom pairing with Dermott let alone top pairing with Rielly. Does Rielly not look better with Brodie? Does Lehtonen/Dermott not look better with Bogosian? Marincin as a 7th would have played a game already this season.
Of course you can always say the team can get better.
You want Pietrangelo manning the Leafs blue line?
Wake up man, this is the salary cap era.

Were you the one who predicted Simmonds would not score more than 5 goals all season?
It's less than 25% into the season.

Are you also in denial that your Habs have played a whopping 5 games versus Vancouver?

Tavares highest goal scoring total in his career was when he played with Marner. Highest point total of his career as well. He was also +19 that year. His best year in NYI was +6. He scored a whopping 47 goals with Marner. His best in NYI was 38.

Here's an interesting stat.
When Tavares played with Marner Tavares was +19, Marner +22 and Matthews was -9
When Matthews played with Marner last year Matthews was +19, Marner +6 and Tavares was -7
Of course Hyman is also a factor. Hyman was +16 with Tavares/Marner and +13 with Matthews/Marner. He's also +7 this year in 12 games. Marner +6 in 12 games 2nd behind Hyman.
What kind of stats are there when Nylander is in the mix?

Initial reports indicate Wayne Simmonds may be out 6 weeks (hand).

That is not good. He was proving his worth. But what's important is that he is healthy for the playoffs.
