I think that it's a reasonable question. It's not a trick. Just wondering what would convince him.

Here's a "trick" question: there are two ways a virus enters the human body. You got the respiratory system covered(with the cheap, untested covering); what's the other one? Something one should consider on a packed TTC vehicle, but the "scientists" in Ontario are not even mentioning nor the packed city transit, btw.

Here's a trick answer. Seeing as Phil keeps refuting any info which shows that masks make a difference, I'd like for him to tell us what data would convince him that masks are efficacious.

So, you don't know. As for the masks everyone is sporting. They're mostly of a psychological value as they're not capable of stopping the spread of virus because, simply, they were never designed for it. The size of the virus ensures that it passes right through them. It's nice that people wear them, it puts everything in the right perspective and helps with ths social distancing, but putting your faith in them is a fool's errand.

36 European countries did better than Sweden and that proves that masks don't work?

Look at American numbers vs. Canada. Canadians are more compliant regarding masks and our per capita infection rates show that. Canada had 3,450 yesterday and the U.S. had 98,500. That's close to 30X more infections for a population that is between 9-10X as large. That proves that masks work

But you are cherry-picking US numbers. Look at France, Italy, Spain for example, they have had mandatory mask laws since the summer and their number have shot up since then.

Or look right here in Ontario, the ironic thing is new cases skyrocketed almost the exact week mask laws came into effect (see red line).
I think I know why it happening, I'll post my theory later today when I have more time

Calling someone a troll or nut job is an insult and adds nothing to the debate.
At least be man and own up to it.

Well for one the 2nd wave we're having right now in Ontario would have to be a lot smaller than what we're having right now (see my graph above).

I'll answer it for you since you dont appear to know. The virus can enter through your eyes very easily.
Most people wear masks over their mouth and nose, but not over their eyes

I wonder how many people have been infected through their eyes who wouldn't have been infected anyway through their mouth or nose.

Many people wear prescription specs, contacts, shields or sun glasses, etc. They also blink a lot.

So if the results in one province were, say, 50% less, and the results everywhere else in the world were the same you would be a mask proponent? Spain, Belgium etc. would be irrelevant to you? I highly doubt that that would be the case. You would still be debating.

Whatever evidence is presented you, you have a rebuttal, so that is why I am asking what would it take to seriously/completely convince you, not just a nice start. Based on statistics and science what would it take for you to have no rebuttal. You would be 100% sure of the efficacy of masks if....

I'm saying the Ontario 2nd wave wouldnt be anywhere near as big as it is right now if masks made such a huge difference.
Ditto for some of the European countries. It would be a lot less.
Or maybe we wouldnt even have a second wave at all, if masks worked so well
