True. But I was referring to smaller places. I definitely don't think big, busy places like The Keg or Milestone's should be open yet. And definitely not food courts.
I was thinking about my local. A small pub that even pre-covid would rarely have more than 10 or 12 people at any one time (not on a Friday night of course). I can distance myself there - I can sit in the corner and read a book. The closure hasn't personally hurt the owner much because they own and don't pay rent. And has a lot of savings, etc. But some small places and mom and pop type places aren't going to survive.
I know I keep ranting about Subway, lol, but three people at the counter (none looked to be wearing masks) are breathing in the same air. People in grocery stores are breathing in the same air.

This post is simply to demonstrate I have seen the same information Smallcock has and yes - up to 650,000/year (globally) is a big number and yet is considered by most to be part of normal life year after year.
I'm sure you think you're right but:
The flu kills between 24,00 and 62,000 in the US any year. US covid total 113,000 (almost double worst case in modern times)
It kills between 500 and 1500 any year in Canada. Canada's covid total 7,800 (five times a bad flu year)
And that doesn't even get into the fact covid in North America has been around for only 4 months.
The Coronavirus has not only been around for only 4 months and killing that many people in such a short period of time but these numbers of deaths are happening with shutdowns and isolations in place. If these measures weren't taken the numbers of deaths would be exponentially higher. The irrational, loud and ignorant very small percentage simply do not understand or like to willfully ignore the data and facts to fit the narrative they are trying to spin, that's why these uneducated fools keep comparing the Coronavirus to the Flu.
One last thing to consider. The flu numbers are *not* limited to tests and "suspected" due to a set of symptoms. They include the estimates for all the cases that weren't caught.
