Things like this are what will keep Doug from going all out and open everything not to mention will probably make the numbers start to creep up.
Contrast that to my quick visit to Longo’s this morning to grab a few items. Masks mandatory for all. Do a better job spraying down the shopping carts.

Also drove past the small park by my house. 3 families out their with the kids playing on the equipment. Yellow caution tape still in place. Kids looked to be having fun.

I went to a No Frills yesterday... no line-up to get inside the store, jam-packed full of people inside, nobody wearing masks, nobody following those arrows on the floor, nobody staying 6 feet apart except at the checkout. It was close to pre-covid behavior, and it was beautiful. It will be like this everywhere in 2 months.

Agreed. I’m all for opening things up.

Stunned Ontario is moving at a snails pace when a vast majority of the world is moving forward at a much faster pace

Can't go to grandma's funeral, but rioting by the thousands? No threat at all. Go to the park? The premier and the mayor fly off the handle, even paint fucking circles on the grass. Go to a demonstration? Everything is just peachy. I hope that the average Canadians can summon what's left of their balls and act accordingly.

You don't even have to attend a demonstration to ignore social distancing. Just attend a celebration for front line workers and everybody can be as close to each other as they want, all with the mayor's blessings.

I love that idea. I just really don't see how a to-go/takeout order is so much safer. Someone else is still preparing and serving your food.
But you only have to worry about the cook, not all of the other patrons breathing the same air in a closed room.

7000 million people in the world. It's really not a big deal. Millions die of starvation every year.

Eventually you're all going to have to realize that you're not special enough to have world economies shut down just so you can avoid a new flu.
is that real staement or is it your typical trolling?

Does this mean you are planning to get infected on purpose to help that herd immunity?

Of course not. Could it be that you want the rest of society doing the heavy lifting you you don't have to worry about being sick?

Speaking of sheeple, do you have a source for that or are you just repeating what you were told?

Our puppet in Ottawa attended a crowded demonstration & even took a knee "for the cause" but thousands of small businesses must stay closed & millions of people suffering. I say open your small business just tell them the people are there for a peaceful protest & if bylaw wants to fine someone tell them to write the PM up first! This is bordering on stupidity now

True. But I was referring to smaller places. I definitely don't think big, busy places like The Keg or Milestone's should be open yet. And definitely not food courts.

I was thinking about my local. A small pub that even pre-covid would rarely have more than 10 or 12 people at any one time (not on a Friday night of course). I can distance myself there - I can sit in the corner and read a book. The closure hasn't personally hurt the owner much because they own and don't pay rent. And has a lot of savings, etc. But some small places and mom and pop type places aren't going to survive.

I know I keep ranting about Subway, lol, but three people at the counter (none looked to be wearing masks) are breathing in the same air. People in grocery stores are breathing in the same air. :(

For basketcase - multiple online sources quote between 250,000-500,000 and some as high as 650,000 as Smallcock has mentioned. Here is one example source:

https://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=208914

No I cannot verify this information but you are welcome to dig deeper into this if interested. This post is simply to demonstrate I have seen the same information Smallcock has and yes - up to 650,000/year (globally) is a big number and yet is considered by most to be part of normal life year after year.

I'm sure you think you're right but:

The flu kills between 24,00 and 62,000 in the US any year. US covid total 113,000 (almost double worst case in modern times)
It kills between 500 and 1500 any year in Canada. Canada's covid total 7,800 (five times a bad flu year)

And that doesn't even get into the fact covid in North America has been around for only 4 months.
