I have run my own business since I was 17 years old I went threw sars, h1n1, 911, and 4 recessions and in my experience things will return to normal as far as business goes and lives are being saved. Believe me I totally understand what business is going through but if we open up too soon the regret will last the rest of our lives.

Exactly we just need little more time. Plus when we reopen we need to make sure that people working need to wear masks.
We should not reopen until we have wide spread testing and masks.
Its very simple. But this greedy corporate fcks they only care to make payments on their multi million dollar mansions.
On top of that don't forget that when they reopen it doesn't mean that people are going to listen and go back to work lol.

The vicious side of me wishes people who don't believe this is real went on with life while the rest of us self-quarantine. I've challenged several posters to intentionally infect themselves but none of them seem willing to do so.

But TJ is right, although he gave some facts & opinion you don't like the lockdown has to end & very soon if we want to carry on the lifestyle were accustomed to.
You'd have to be severly retarded or living under a rock not to see the financial crisis on our hands. With our biggest export below $20 a barrel & Western Select below $5 & the gov extending the lockdown/shutdown were on a one way trip to depressionville...choo choo! We've brought air travel to & the service industry almost to a halt, & very soon automakers...this will be the nail in our coffin. When cars stop rolling off the assembly line because no ones buying them...well because they can't & the layoffs for the auto sector double our unemployment pat your leaders on the back & tell them to keep the checks a rolling because when the housing market & stock markets crash were all going to need moooor monnney to keep the wolves from the door!
The purpose of the lockdown was to flatten the curve & stop the run on the hospital. We've done that with great success...too bad more effort wasn't put into our longterm care homes, their taking the brunt of this & it's sad to see.
Let's look at the numbers of our big provinces versus three states that have no lock down orders. As of today in Ontario 385 dead, 98.4% age 60+, Quebec 487 dead, 94% age 60+, BC 72 dead (age breakdown NA), Alberta 48 dead (age breakdown NA). Deaths per million: Quebec 57, Ontario 26, BC 14, Alberta 11
Arkansas 32 dead/ 11 per million, Nebraska 20 dead/ 10 per million, South Dakota 6 dead/ 7 per million....& the economy keeps going. No schools of course, no large gatherings but a lot of Common Sense. No bars, only take out food, but you can go to the mall if you keep your social distance & still get a haircut in most county's! If numbers go up they will put more measures in place, as numbers go down more things open. Common sense right?

So for those of you over 60 & thinking keeping the country under lockdown is a good idea because it keeps you safer give your head a shake stay the fack indoors & let the rest of us get back to work! Need grocery delivery, meds delivery, ride to the hospital, financial assitance...should be a no brainer it's our debt & obligation to provide these to you. Put yourself in the shoe's of people in their 20's 30's, 40's & 50's that have kids & bigger financial obligations. Then imagine a pandemic that only affected 5% of the population...18 & under, would you want the whole economy shut down over it...fuk no you'd want the 18 & under quarantined...shoe's on the other foot right now deal with it
I urge the young, old, & everybody in between that doesn't want their grandchildren paying this debt off to petition your mayors, counsellor's, MP's to get a plan in place & rally our Premier's to get this country moving again before the wheels fall off the train...

Cars already stopped coming off the assembly lines 2 to 3 weeks ago. Honda was one of the first to shut it all down. All the plants that supply to Ford, GM, Honda etc have all shut down too. The job losses are staggering. I bet some of those companies will hire back just 75% of those laid off.
