Many people work in those downtown towers.

I still don't know why Lowry gets penalized when the other team knocks him to the floor.

So IMO, basketball is probably the hardest sport to officiate. So what's going is this.....

When a player is trying to defend an offensive player who has the ball, you can't contact him while your moving. Your feet have to be planted. So in Lowry's case, usually what's going is a player is driving to net, and he's trying to get in front of the net first with his feet planted which is why when he gets hit, he gets knocked to the floor because he's trying to show the refs his feet aren't moving. So the issue is, did he get to the open lane first and get his feet planted? or was he late? So that's why the call goes either way. Also, this can't be done in the restricted area which is half circle line around the basket. So if the ref deems Lowry got there first with his feet planted, the offensive player will get the foul and it will be called a "charge" or "charging". If the ref deems Lowry got there late and his feet were still moving, Lowry gets the foul and it will be called "blocking" because your blocking the player from getting to basket. I'll see if I can find a youtube video to explain it in more detail.

@Darts.

You can go to about the 7:54 mark and watch until about 8:29 mark of this clip and it will explain how the restricted area comes into play on charging/blocking:

The Urinating Tree speaks - he's being merciful...sort of.

He could have ripped large on Masai's shoddy treatment and the circumstances surrounding KD.

Thanks BBL. I'm a recent convert to basketball so still on a learning curve. Charging or blocking can be simply a matter of nuance.

Anyway, do you think the refs were biased against the Raps in the playoffs? We all know the NBA admitted the refs messed up in the last minute of game 5 by not calling a foul against Gasol. Was that bias or incompetence or both?

Long story short. I think the District Attorney's office will pull a "Smollett" and decline to prosecute Masai Ujiri.

BTW: I saw a video shot by Rascal Diddy Montana that show Ujiri did lay his hands on the officer.

Officer was completely wrong. Masai had his pass in his hand.

Probably a sore loser.

So I've been watching basketball since about 91' or 92', sometime near the beginning of the Bulls dynasty and been following the Raptors since their inception in 95'. I can tell you that ever since I've been watching them, they've always got the short end of the stick. I actually felt the officiating was pretty good in the finals up until game 5 and 6 where once again we were getting hosed. That's why we were in foul trouble.

...

4) Are NBA refs biased?
I generally don't think so and in most cases, the blown calls work out pretty even (guy on youtube has had one of the former top refs on analysing the calls this series) but I was getting a bit frustrated in the 4th q.

Worst call was the basket interference on Green's putback. Wasn't even close. Curry tripping himself was an understandable missed call.

And witnesses (A warriors season ticket holder) says the cop shoved Masai before even asking for credentials.

But yes, the case will go away because there is nothing to it. Doris Burke on ESPN says she's seen 20 or so similar cases where nothing was ever even mentioned let alone charges layed.
