His fastball tops out at 93 - which is not formidable and I think hitters are comfortable hitting at that speed...especially if it has no movement. And just a hunch his body language tips some pitches.Anyone have any theories as to why Stro is sucking so bad this year??
Is it just the blisters, or something else??
Stro 2017: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/stromma01.shtml (13-9, 3.09 ERA - voted 8th in Cy Young award)
Stro 2018: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/stromma01.shtml (4-9, 5:54 ERA)
I noticed that too. He reared back and tried to fire his hardest last night, and it only topped out at 93.His fastball tops out at 93 - which is not formidable and I think hitters are comfortable hitting at that speed...especially if it has no movement
Give me a fucking break...Well he hasn't called anybody a faggot this year (but when he did last year, it showed his character).

he aint fooling anybody any more and his attitude is not the best. New manager and pitching coach in 2019 need to take him behind the woodshed for a good talking to.
My guess it is that he is not back to 100% from a health perspective, hence the loss of speed on the fastball. I have not watched a lot of his starts this year but I do remember that he had a lot of movement on his pitches and he generally got batters to hit grounders. Not too sure if this has been the case this year, if not, that may help fill out the story.
Shoulder strain. He's not going to fall off this much just because hitters have figured him out. Hitters figure out the new pitchers within a couple of starts when they first come to the league.
Could be an issue w mechanics if he is compensating for some physical problems. Hopefully he and Sanchez and Estrada can find a way back.
Hopefully we do not enter a black hole like we did from '94 to '15. Teased, but never got over the hump. All of the Bluejay fans out there better get used to mediocrity for the next 4 to 5 years or maybe longer.
ENJOY!
Please clarify what you mean...Hopefully we do not enter a black hole...
Ditto.Teased, but never got over the hump.
Toronto has a major league franchise, not sure I would class this group as a major league team!take comfort in this...baseball is a great game with many things to be interested in - enjoy going to the games or watching on tv...only 30 cities have a major league team, and Toronto is one of them
Agreed....baseball is a great game with many things to be interested in...
If both Sanchez and Stroman fail to become the Ace or #2 pieces next year, this rebuild is going to take much longer than I thought.
Why have blisters become the new epidemic for pitchers? Can it be anything other than the ball? New fangled grips? Or, perhaps, balls?

Sanchez is a mystery as he has the size to be a real stud. Remember in the early years they monitored the number of innings he pitched - So much for that strategy.
I think Estrada may be done. He had a good couple of years though and at times, was one of the most reliable pitchers in the game.
Wow! How things can change in 3 - 4 years.
we've known that for a while.According to the attached it's 99.9% that Gibby is good as gone after the season
