We'll have wait and see exactly where it hits Florida. And at what strength. I bet CNN can't wait for landfall.

Hurricane Irma has become so strong it's showing up on seismometers used to measure earthquakes.

The south suffers ... first Harvey and now Irma ... hopefully it will be downgraded because if it brings as much devastation it will be a 1-2 walloping ... responders are already struggling as it is.

Yep. Warming of the North Atlantic has absolutely nothing to do with the intensity of hurricanes. :der:

The media is all About this hurricane hitting Florida. Florida is well prepared ahead of time, even a pre-storm state of emergency has been declared.

The people I feel for is everybody on all the Caribean islands it's going to swamp and flood long before it gets anywhere near the mainland. That's the real disaster. Most of them have nowhere to go, not much shelter and not much for emergency services and relief. That's where we should send help.

Climate depot is not a legit source of data.

By the way, Harvey dumped 21 trillion gallons of water.
Don't think that's a little extreme?

Lets pray that Irma doesn't do that to Puerto Rico or anywhere else on its path.

Actually the North Atlantic's story is about the 'cold blob', not warming.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...ink-they-may-know-why/?utm_term=.8189dfc706b4

The worry is that polar ice and glacial melt in Greenland is threatening to slow down the AMOC, the current that has up to now kept England and the East Coast warm.
If its happening it would explain our cold summer, the last few really cold east coast winters and be a harbinger of fairly massive climate change coming much sooner then everyone expects.

The first story linked to on climate depot is this one:
https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2017/09/02/arctic-sea-ice-extent-stable-since-2007/
In this 'report', the author looks at a chart that shows declining arctic sea ice and claims its not a downward slope by attempting to cherry pick dates.
That's incredibly shoddy.
Morano, the guy who runs that site is funded by the fossil fuel industry, clearly he works as a lobbyist spreading disinformation on behalf of his funders.

Weather.com noted in the spring that the high temperatures of the Gulf of Mexico would most likely lead to larger but fewer hurricanes.
So while the number isn't as high we are looking at two record sized hurricanes within a month, which is what most sane people would call an increase in extreme weather events.

The only good news is that it hit one of Trump's properties today and is still on track for Mar a Lago.

Not sure how this guy keeps his camera still for so long. Why does Forrest Gump still have his ships out there.

This whore Irma has some brute force blow that is merciless. May the masses find safe passage to safety.
