Get ready to say goodbye to Encarnacion.

With the signing of Cespedes by the Mets for 4 years and $110 million, they have done EE a huge favor and sent a large sum of money his way by setting his market price: more than Cespedes.

Can anyone see the BJ's re-signing EE for about $120-125 million? Don't hold your breath!

I do hope it means the BJ's will now make a determined effort to resign Bautista!

Encarnacion a llttle bet less market value than Cespedes. I don't think 4/80 will get it done, but it will not be at or above $110M.

Cespedes is:

- 33 months younger (nearly 3 years)
- A good defender. Can still currently play above average defence at a more demanding position (Won a gold glove in 2015).
- Similar OPS + the last 2 seasons. Remember that Edwin's numbers are inflated at the Rogers Centre as compared to whatever they call the Mets stadium.

We need guys who can hit for average, as well as dingers.

Sorry, (and it hurts me to say this), but EE and JB dont fit the bill

I believe they will sign him. My take is that Rogers has realized how much a winning team makes for them and throwing big money at Eddy will continue that revenue flow. The Jays led the AL in attendance last year and with EE in the fold, that level of fan interest will continue. Rogers makes a killing off of a good Jays team as they have cornered the baseball market in the whole country.
Heard on Sportsnet - Bobcat's show, Cespedes was the #1 guy on free agent market and EE is #2 guy. Don't think EE will get more than Cespedes unless the Yanks open the vault.
Rogers & Jays just have to pony up 4 for $100mill & I think EE & his parrot will bite. Can't let parrot fly south

Colabella left off the 40 man roster and cleared waivers. Expect the Jays will release him at some point.
Beltran signs with the Astros one year....does this take another option off the table for EE?
Revere released by the Nationals.....if he is cheap is he worth it?

I'd take Revere over Granderson. He brings more tools.

I take it that the Jays organization must have been pretty pissed off at Cola for the steroids thing. He was not re-instated nor was he called up in September.

Revere would be worth taking a look as he was a shot in the arm during the 2015 pennant race.

Good numbers all around in today's market. Hopefully Loup can come in with a season. As for the role players I like em both.

Stroman I think it's a good number too. Enough to get that loyalty thing in the back of his head without overpaying.

The base salary for next year is about 600,000. So 1.2 million for loup is actually a bargain. Especially if he can do put together an decent year.

Pearce can play a decent outfield as well, so they can still bring back one of them to play 1B. Smoak rides the bench.

I think Bautista is Plan B or C for most teams . He may need to sign a one year deal and re-try free agency next season. He probably should've taken the qualifying offer.

Yankees are the front runner for EE, scary to have to face him 19 times a year for 5 years LOL

So for the total cost of the new contracts for Morales and Pearce, it's less than what EE and Bautista were asking combined PER YEAR.

Platoon partner with Smoak at 1B or Carrera in the outfield, with the current roster as it is. He murders left handed pitching.
Wonder if they are trying to move Smoak? Have no idea who would want him? Anyone looking for a switch hitting first baseman with a decent glove?

How about a switch non-hitting first baseman??!!

Here
It is obvious the BJ's have a definite plan... and not easy to figure out even for all us Sherlocks.

More moves still to come... maybe a trade and/or free agent for bullpen help?

As things stand right now, Fowler seems to be a better fit for the BJ's than EE...
