So if they start winning and win the division and eventually the WS than obviously that would be because of Gibby and Jacoby?

AK you should give Jacoby a call and tell him to stop telling JB and EE and others to have poor at bats trying to hit balls out of the park when all they need is a solid at bat. Maybe he doesn't know. Or maybe the players aren't playing well and no amount of coaching would help. Tell me about the last time a coach pulled a team out of a batting slump? I can't recall although I'm sure it happens often because most teams have slumps.
It's not the coaches it's the players. Period. Do you think the Detroit hitting coach should get credit because Cabrera did what we all were pretty sure he would do? Yeah, probably
I feel at this point Gibby has been given enough time. He's underperforming given all the talent this team has.

Let me ask you, how many years are you willing to give him??

Take a valium, shacky.
I'm not the one who is in a tizzy over 2 losses , calling for heads to roll. I am the one that keeps telling the TERB "experts" (now isn't that a helluva contradiction in terms) to chill. It is YOU who needs the meds.

They need to be stronger and give their players shit when they dont play fundamental baseball
I see. The John Brophy approach. :thumb: A true success story.

These are seasoned accomplished pros who know their business. They need a coach who understands this and it is readily apparent that the players really like Gibbons, appreciate the way they are treated and play hard for him.

I have never been big on Gibby. We're not gonna win a world series with him.
AFA Jacoby is concerned its a case of what have you done for me lately??
A good batting coach should be able to pull his team out of a batting slump.

All I see Jays doing is not executing bunts or moving runners up. Is that JBats, or EE or Josh, or Tulo, or Smoak, or Sanders that you want bunting. If you actually know baseball, you know that this team is not built to play small ball on a consistent basis. They are a slugging team.
They are constantly swinging for the fences when they should be looking to just poke the ball opposite field or up the middle for a single..
The team got very close to the WS last year with the same coaches and mostly the same roster.

I ask again, what specifically are Gibby and the coaches doing wrong this year that was not wrong last year. What wrong things are they telling the players? Which drills and instructions are they not doing this year? What did the coaches do to motivate the players last year that they are not doing this year? I'd really like you to answer this question.

Guaranteed you have absolutely zero idea since you are not around the team and have no idea whatsoever as to what goes on behind closed doors.

I agree with buster. This is on the players.

BTW, who's the guy who hates Pete Walker as pitching coach because he wasn't a star pitcher himself. Pete is doing a great job seeing as our starters have the best stats in baseball.

But it's OK. You guys can keep puffing out your chests by pretending you know more than a professional coaching staff that has spent 30-40 years each in pro ball and are around and working with the players on a daily basis. It is actually laughably delusional on your collective part.

Jeezus dude, I was just kidding. But seems you took that seriously, so maybe you do need a bit of valium.
I promise, it wont hurt

Totally disagree with this. Yes I think they like him, but that doesnt win you games.
You need a stronger coach, Gibby comes across as a softy in interviews

That was IMO all based on a massive adrenalin boost from all the trades AA made, with Price being the ultimate orgasm

Guaranteed you have absolutely zero idea since you are not around the team and have no idea whatsoever as to what goes on behind closed doors
I'm not sure why you always have to make this so personal, shack. People can have opinions on the Jays without sitting in the clubhouse every day

I agree with buster. This is on the players
I never said the players didnt also carry some responsibility, see a few of my posts up

BTW, who's the guy who hates Pete Walker as pitching coach because he wasn't a star pitcher himself. Pete is doing a great job seeing as our starters have the best stats in baseball
This has absolutely nothing to do with anything

Again, you take other's peoples opinions you dont agree with way too personal.

Relax, have a drink. Try not being so uptight

4.5 out of first. 2 out of WC. Not bad for a rapidly aging team with an inept coaching staff.

No need for panic. Keep taking your valium, guys.

I dont think you're a troll shack, but this present Jays team should be at least 10 games over .500, if not more!!!

The way they're playing is simply unacceptable!!!!!
Yes we'll win today, but that last game shouldve been won also, and we ought to have won our last 6th series!!

And WHY are you protecting Gibby, shack??????????

Since you avoided answering the first tine, let me ask another way. With 7 of 9 position players hitting well below their career averages, how long would you let this team play approx .500 this season before you make changes?
80 games? 100 games? 130? 162?

Impossible to answer. How far behind are they at 80 or 100 etc.

3 games behind after 100? 15 behind after 100? Very different. Are they in the midst of a slump at 100 or on a winning streak?

Who is available? Are the division leaders slumping? Are they in second or are they in 4th. Does Shapeeroo even want to win this year or would he prefer to tear the team down and build it in his own big forehead image?

If they are hitting below career averages that usually means that there is only upside. These things tend to even out over the season.

If last season and others prove anything it's that this team are late starters. As long as they are within 7 at the allstar break it's still fine.

Okay fine shack, so please give us a number?? How many games, wins and losses are you willing to put up with before we fire this clown named Gibby???!

I dont like him, I have never really like him from day one, and I continue to not really like him.
Although I dont wanna sound TOO mean, so I wish the very best for him in his career for here on out

to everyone that thinks the manager of the Jays and/or his coaching staff should be fired, please tell us who the Jays are going to get to replace them. Eric Wedge is supposedly the manager in waiting, check his resume and see if that is who you want. IMO there just isn't a lot of bodies out there that are available and would be an upgrade. If you are going to get a top level manager(and he will want to bring in his own coaching staff) you pretty well have to do it in the off season.

Because it's Gibby's birthday today - and the team celebrated with a solid win!

Happy Birthday, Gibby!!!

Ah the reversion to the mean theory. Why bother playing at all then?

By the same token the starters are pitching above expectations so when they start struggling this team will be in trouble. That's why every game matters.

I'm not saying the players aren't trying. They are very intense and play at very elite level that we will never know. But status quo does not seem to be the right answer.

As is your right.

But because you don't like him I am supposed to come up with a number at which to fire him? I am beginning to understand how much logic there is behind your posts.

Excellent question no one asks

If you win the championship then you have to keep winning or fans do not come

Best business call is to have a team that might win but never does

1 Salary is less

2 Fans come in anticipation of winning and never become jaded

3 sports are a business and the business of business is business IE Leafs, Lions are teams that do not want to win

Actually I don't think the starters are pitching above expectations. Happ, Estrada, Sanchez are following up from their success last year in similar form. Dickey has faced every ace on every team at this point. In fact Stroman is performing below expectations.

As is the bullpen.

So above. 500 with hitters and bullpen below is pretty good. I see nothing but upside.

None of our top 4 starters have pitched more than 187 innings a season except our 5th starter Dickey.
So you think the starters will continue performing above expectations but the batters will turn it around.

Well, optimism and wishful thinking are two sides of the same coin.
