George, George, George.

Paul O'Neil is not Doug Linton, he should be in the HOF if he isn't there already.

Let's look at this from a the viewpoint of a more celebrated player: Mickey Mantle. I did a ratio composite of his regular season numbers versus WS numbers. If he produced in the regular season like he did in the WS, these would be his career stats. HR 732, RBI 2339, AVG .322.

Bottom line: A-Roid isn't even fit to genuflect before The Mick.

Von Von Von, you said World Series rings mattered the most.
Doug Linton has 2, Ted & Ernie.....not a 1 between them.
You don't like the answer, you try to change the question.

Paul O'Neill was a good player, but not close to a hall of famer.
He appeared on the ballot for 1 year (2007) and did not receive even half the 5% required to remain on the ballot (2.2%).
Wait, that's wrong, he's already in the hall of fame.
The Irish American Baseball Hall of Fame.
Alex Rodriguez, on the other hand, has hall of fame numbers across the board.

last week, Gibbons pitches to Ortiz with base open....bad result, Tuesday he pitches to Cabrera with base open...another bad result.......tonight he pitches to Davis with base open.....bad result......there are certain guys you don't let beat you ..the same mistake 3 times in a week......but hey he is Gibby such a nice guy and its his birthday

I keep seeing Ricky Romero in the mirror when I look at Stroman..or is it just the twilight zone? And Osuna is just a kick below a great closer .....I did notice something strange tonight (besides not walking Davis with a base open)...when Osuna warmed up he just lobbed a few in...then he hesitated about 15 seconds and threw a fast ball that was very low and outside the plate.....was he doubting himself?
Ortiz is hottest hitter in league and you pitch to him with runners on 2 and 3 ???? He let Stroman make the call !! Dumb

Davis drove in 3 last night and first was open

Gibby blew calls in playoffs as well when he told whats his name to take first pitch with tying run on second then he fouled a bunt so now he has to hit

Gibby gave him one shot at a bunt

Put top reliever in lost game so KC got free look at his stuff

pulled Dickey in fifth when he was throwing gem and let Price throw 3 innings so he is no longer able to start

runners left in scoring position

Let KC steal signals

These are dumb calls - deju vu all over again

Stroman is not a proven ace as teams figure him out

Gibby said Sanchez is headed for the pen so Estrada is our ace

so we should have a good pen when Cecil returns but starting may drop to mediocre at best and last year slugging is not repeatable

Martin is playing bad defense and cannot hit - something may be wrong with him but have to use him anyways so they keep it quiet

Let us face it - championship teams win the close games and we are 6 -12 with no one worthy of an all star selection

Well that's something we can agree on George. A-Roid is an object of derision to me, but he does deserve to be in the HOF. So does Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens, McGwire, Sosa and Palmiero can fangu.

In the 6
Martin is playing bad defense and cannot hit - something may be wrong with him but have to use him anyways so they keep it quiet
I have a feeling there's something psychologically going on with him. He just doesnt look happy

Cant hit, passed balls, can't throw anyone out , letting his teammates down ... no wonder he is unhappy ... I saw him hit a homer in Boston and he could not stop smiling

Catcher is the games key position and he knows it, as well as the games toughest position so after 10 years as a regular catcher he may be all banged up physically and emotionally and is in no position to repeat last years success nor are the rest of the hitters as a whole

Why does everyone assume a team will repeat the extraordinary offence of one year the following year ?

Our offence became the number one concern of every teams pitching staff

Example is Joey Bats leading league in walks and steady diet of outside curve balls to Edwin who gets one ball to drive in every at bat if lucky

You have a good memory. Bad punctuation.

We did not win much close games last year either. I just read we are 21-40 in 1run games since 2015. Dead last.
Our BA with RISP is also worst after being best last year. This is most puzzling. How can the entire lineup choke?
There's gotta be some changes cuz it ain't working right now.

But you have to wonder, is this going on with Russel Martin because he's having a bad season, or IN SPITE OF??

In other words, would it have happened regardless because he's 30+, or are there other reasons???!!

Punctuation good with RISP.

Me thinks Jays are now number one target for opposing teams brain trust who put a lot of thought into how to stop our offence after amazing year of production

We are not hitting with RISP because opposing pitchers have adapted and are not allowing us to.

Gibby's job is to understand this and have counter strategy but he is not smart enough

Unsure exactly WTF they have done but I have noticed JoeyBats leads league in walks and they feed Edwin nothing but low outside curve balls and bring in Ace when meat of lineup is up with RISP.

Commentators such as Gregg Zaun seem to have better understanding of game than Gibby, but he can always sound like genius after the game is over and say Gibby should have done this and that

No truth to this what so ever.
They want to save Sanchez arm but hard to put him in pen with no offence to win games and Stroman going south

Estrada has an Cy Young WHIP

He and Happ are saving Gibby by pitching way above expectations

Marco pitches another quality start but given our anemic offence in the late innings, this is likely another loss.

Right, but are you making things up??? "Gibby said Sanchez is headed for the pen"??? I can tell you this has never come out of Gibbons mouth, nor has it ever come out of Shaprio or Atkins mouths.

I'm going to say this one more time as I can't believe this is still a topic of discussion...lol. (this is worse then the people who keep calling the Mike Wilner show asking about this)

1)All they ever said was, before the season started is that they'll have a wait and see approach. It's been everybody else that's been saying "they're probably going to put a pitch limit on Sanchez".

2)The way sanchez is pitching, doesn't matter what the other 4 in the rotation do. He's one of the best pitchers in baseball right now. You don't take one of the best pitchers in baseball and put him in the bullpen period. (unless your the Washington Nationals)

So how many innings do you think he will pitch assuming he does not get injured?

Most he has done as a pro is 130ish and most of those were in the minors.

Great walk off HR by Edwing against a top reliever. EE is actually my pick to lead the AL in RBIs. He's still hasn't got going yet with OPS of only .750 while he has been averaging .920 over the past 5 years. Given that Ortiz and the Bosox can't continue at their pace and the Jays and EE can't stay this weak on O, he should be the leader by seasons end.

And how are the starters for all the other teams looking? Yankees? Boston? Tampa? Baltimore? I'll put our rotation against any in the division.
I never said our rotation wasn't good so far. I've said several times in this thread they were one of the best (until Stroman started channeling Romero). It's the best in the ALeast, but Boston has insane O and Baltimore has better O and bullpen. Yanks and TB are behind us in the standings. It take offence to score more than the runs allowed by pitchers to win, in case you haven't grasped the obvious.

While our starters have been good, I said none of our top 4 have pitched more than 187 innings in a season, this means they will struggle or injure into mid- and late season. Your point was reversion to the mean will lift our offence but our pitching will continue above career expectations.

I was merely pointing out the internal inconsistency in your logic.

WTF Jays bullpen was lights out! Lets hope that continues! Every batter but Travis had at least one hit last night. Travis did get a couple of fly balls to right so maybe he is starting to find it. Looking for silver linings!
