The biggest crapshoot in pro sports starts tomorrow! The MLB Draft.
Paul Quantrill's son , Cal , has been linked to the Jays in the first round. He was one of the front runners for 1st overall until Tommy John surgery sidelined him for the season.
Jays need to stock up on everything, after all the trades last year. There's still some solid prospects in the system, but most are still 2-4 years away.
The Jays have drafted pitchers well recently under Andrew Tinnish and Brian Parker (both hired by AA). I like to see more high risk, high reward picks for position players. You look at the Royals, Cubs and Red Sox and their lineups are stacked with home grown all-sar talent. We have Pillar and Goins LOL

And how are the starters for all the other teams looking? Yankees? Boston? Tampa? Baltimore? I'll put our rotation against any in the division.
It's rare now with increased bullpen usage to hit 200 innings. And I am seeing Estrada and Happ both having what could be career years. And Sanchez his breakout season. Dickey will go. 500+ a bit and eat innings. If Stroman can turn it around vis his ERA I see a rotation as good as any.
The bats will come around. There is too much talent there. Bullpen is the issue. Biagini appears to be working and Chavez as well. Osuna of course. But we got no 8th guy and no good lefty(maybe Cecil turns it around).
Lots of upside. Don't just look at our issues. Remember all teams have them. Stay healthy and the wins will come.
Hahahaha! But I get the impression that Gibby is the type of guy who has been happily married for 25 years and has a portly wife who has dinner and a cold Coor's waiting for him when he comes home after a hard evening at the ballpark!
Is Manny Machado the best player in the Majors? Consider this:
Bryce Harper appears to be an A-Roid in the making, all stats and ego - no rings. Mike Trout is phenomenal but the Angles are in decline. He may have to persevere through a major rebuild.
Yordano Ventura has proclaimed that he's going to bean Boom Bats when they next face each other. Machado rag dolled him real good his last start, he may want to reconsider.
Next start, no-no, Sancho.

Another bad outing 4 ER in 5 innings. His ERA must be above 6.0 over the past month. He has dropped below Dickey as the 5th starter.Stroman 6 hits and 3 ER in 3 innings already
Another 1 run loss against the 1st place Orioles.

Yes I know Georgi Boy, yer predictability is comforting. The Yankees won 4 World Series without him. They played different positions but A-Roid was brought in to replace The Warrior (Paul O'Neil) in the line-up. In the Playoffs, O'Neil was Charles Bronson, A-Raid has looked like Pee Wee Herman.
Unfortunately Mr. Von, the numbers don't back you up.
Paul O'Neil's & Alex Rodriguez's postseason numbers are pretty much interchangeable.
Small variances here & there, but their offensive production over their careers (postseason), there's not much difference.
You can look it up.
And to think some people actually predicted Stroman would be a Cy Young contender this year.
last week, Gibbons pitches to Ortiz with base open....bad result, Tuesday he pitches to Cabrera with base open...another bad result.......tonight he pitches to Davis with base open.....bad result......there are certain guys you don't let beat you ..the same mistake 3 times in a week......but hey he is Gibby such a nice guy and its his birthday
I keep seeing Ricky Romero in the mirror when I look at Stroman..or is it just the twilight zone? And Osuna is just a kick below a great closer .....I did notice something strange tonight (besides not walking Davis with a base open)...when Osuna warmed up he just lobbed a few in...then he hesitated about 15 seconds and threw a fast ball that was very low and outside the plate.....was he doubting himself?

There are two stats that matter most. O'Neil hit when it mattered, A-Roid in the same situations wrapped his bat around his neck. And the most important stat of all WS Rings, O'Neil has 5, A-Roid 1. The Warrior already had a ring with the Reds before becoming a Yankee.
The Jays are now 6 - 12 in one run games, this stat is going to sink their season.
And Gibby is an idiot. He brings on Fruity Loops in a 1-run game.
Chris Davis is 5 for 11 against Loopy, you know whats gonna happen next :doh:
And yes I know its lefty vs lefty, but at this point I would trust Biagini much more in this situation, regardless the fact he's a RHP

FWIT, my assessment of the BJ's: not good enough this year... I just don't see this team putting it together consistently enough and long enough to make it.
They obviously have the talent, at least on paper, so there must be something going on that creates enormous pressure and this team just does not perform well under pressure.
Sorry to sound like a broken record, but the only explanation that makes any sense to me is the manager... :sorry:

Like last year,after the trade deadline we will find out who would get the best starting pitchers in the ALE. If the same pattern repeats itself,the Orioles will stop hitting at the same time with no pitchings by August. So,no secrets everyone knows pitching and defence will win you a bundle in baseball. Especially if you resided in the ALE.
