That's pretty fucking cool! I wonder how long it took to actually climb that thing and how many breaks and that tool bag would get heavier as you exhaust your muscles. Going up is one thing though, as going down is harder, using already tired muscles and not being able to see your foot holds and fatigued muscles. There must be platforms at certain intervals in order to rest. I would imagine the sway is measured in feet, not inches.
Going down would be easier since you're not going against gravity, although you do have to control yourself from descending or climbing down too fast.
All you do is look up or straight ahead and slowly back step your way.
I got nervous when he reached the very top. That last metal pole seemed too flimsy to support the weight of two safety lanyards.

agreed - they did not look like they were attached well either - some of the times he clipped on - it look liked they could have slipped off one side
My old man worked High Steel. He was one of the guys bolting down the tip of the CN Tower which was put into place by a Sikorsky.:canada:

Yes, I do recall how native Canadians and Americans are not afraid of heights.
It's all in your mind. 100 ft or 1000 ft makes no difference- you're just as dead. Used to work on tall buildings in my younger years-no big deal. As a kid, I used to guide in the mountains a bit. The funniest thing, in a fog or in a low cloud cover, the tourists would follow without complaining. In the clear weather, on narrow crossings, some would either not go forward or freeze up on the line right in the middle. The "freezers" were the worst. We used to wait for turn in the weather or darkness to get them out. Pain in the ass because I was not paid by the hour.
