Osuna as a starter in 2016? Might depend on signing Price. If so, Price, Stroman, Dickey, And Marc 000000 Estrada.........and I would prefer Hutch as 5th starter and Osuna as closer.....If no price, Sanchez could be closer like he was in 2014 and Osuna could start.

By the way, I put our chances at 60% of signing Price...if he is who he appears to be ..loves the teammates and loves to win....why go anywhere else if the Jays can make a good offer? Or am i naive and he will just go to the highest bidder?
Estrada will also be a free agent and with the year he had he should grab some decent coin.
I think they have a decent shot at signing Price. Length of contract maybe an issue.

Price and Estrada are both UFA and they are both in line for big paydays after career years. Prob $30mil/year for Price and $15mil/year for Estrada. I doubt the Jays can sign both and put 50% chance they could sign either one.

Right now, only Dickey and Stroman are sure things. Hutch could bounce back or trade bait. Prob need Osuna or Sanchez to try starting in 2016. AA may have to find some starters in the off season.
Playoffs first!

It depends on what Mark Shapiro's strategy will be when he becomes Blue Jays President. With Beeston it was simple, he wanted to make the Jays the flagship franchise of Canada and everything he did was to that end.

Shapiro did oversee the construction of Jacobs Field so I'm assuming he'll make the push to convert SkyDome to San Siro turf after the 2016 season. It's in the Jays best interest not to wait further.

6-0 Tampa. Just so Buehrle can get his 200 innings

3-0 KC lead over Minnesota.

That was unfortunate. Jays tried to do the right thing, but it really, really, really didn't work out. Embarrassment all round.

The Jays are stumbling into the playoffs. First the bad/wrong decision to rest the starters for 2 straight games, now letting a guy pitch on one day's rest to give him an ego boost. All in the midst of trying to finish first and clinch home field advantage.

For a team that pride's itself on "taking care of business," this is Ri-god-damn-diculous.

9-0 now. Gibby is gonna hear about this in the media tomorrow morning (as he should).

You could argue with KC winning this game doesnt matter, but Gibby didnt know that beforehand. Dumb and unnecessary move to start Buehrle. Personal stats should never trump the good of the team

Okay so Blue Jays will play the Rangers or Astros?
It will depend on if the Astros win and Texas loses. A lot going on. There may have to play a playoff game for the west. The loser would then face the Yankees. Wild card is in paly as well depending on if the Astros lose and Angels win.

Half to wait until they are all played and the dust is settled.

The guy hit the grand slam on his fourth strike. Marquez is a terrible ump and he should be fired. You might remember he was the guy that one of our pitchers went after a few years ago after he called obvious strikes balls..and then we got beat. I won't be surprised if Martin or Gibbons get tossed later. He missed at least 3 calls...and it was like he wanted to be a jerk about Buerhle

OK, so let's see: Gibby works his ass off all year to bring this franchise its first playoff slot and first divisional title in 22 fucking years. He goes out on a limb to show a little respect to a well-loved veteran and club-house presence. It doesn't work out because of errors and poor umpiring among other things. And you want to humiliate him and Buehrle in the media the next day.

Just making sure I really understand what kind of guy you are.

Nope, I didnt say humiliate Buehrle. I said Gibby should be criticized in the media for making a stupid choice to pitch Buehrle.

There are other ways to show respect to a pitcher without throwing away a game like they did today. Also this wasnt so much about respect as it was about Buehrle getting his 200 innings

Here
It was a gamble and it backfired. Still, nothing very big lost, if anything. And a lot of "ifs" even then.

As much as I think Gibbons is a lousy manager, I give him full marks for trying to do the right thing.

As for Buehrle, I feel for him, he is a nice guy... but the truth is that he did not "earn" 200 innings this season for various reasons that had to do with his health and being quite hittable at times. The gambit today was a back door attempt to have him join an elite group and the ghosts of Sutton, Perry [!] and some of the others decided to intervene.

Perry... no, not Gaylord!

EDIT: After I wrote the above, I gave my head a shake and changed my mind.

I am not going to change what I wrote, but it was not the "right thing" to do! It was precisely the wrong thing to do from the perspective of the integrity of the game.

And come to think of it, the integrity of the game is exactly what is expected from an MLB manager and what he should be thinking about. So it was Karma that intervened and bit Gibby's ass off... and very quickly, too!

Karma is exactly what came to my mind as well.

In the end it wont really matter though, KC now leading 5-1.
I just think the optics of putting a pitcher's record ahead of the team looks really bad

Exactly, it was a gamble that back-fired, who would have thought they Jays would have made two errors in the first inning today, especially one by a very reliable Ryan Goins. You band-wagon jumper fans, get over the lost. The teams has bigger fish to fry, it is time to think BIG Picture. The Jays will not be cleaning out their locker tomorrow.

It's Texas. Halos' season went down in smoke in a 6 run Rangers' 7th and Cole Hamels was better than solid.

WC = Yankees vs Astros.

Time will tell, but Texas is beatable and Yankees know us inside and out and were due to win some close ones against us. We won most of the close ones against them all year. And we miss out on Houston's excellent starting staff.
