AA will leave no stone unturned.

He picked up Darwin Barney (who?) as a supposedly superior defensive 2nd bagger. He has over 500 MLB games.

Once again, AA feels shoring up the defense is the number 1 priority in Tulo's absence.

If a player is on the 40-man roster as of August 31st, he’s eligible to be selected for the 25-man post-season roster.

Last season MLB changed its post-season eligibility rules to include anyone on the 40-man roster.
On the 40-man but not called up until September 3? The player is still eligible for a post-season roster.

I read it and they don't say exactly when but the eligibility rules have recently changed from the 25 to the 40 man roster.

Question: Should Lowe be the setup guy for Osuna and replace Sanchez in that role?

I would say "yes" to that.
Where is the big problem with Sanchez? They asked him to pitch more than one inning last game, when he's been very consistent just pitching the 8th. I think this is a case of trying to improve/perfect something that is already doing quite well, thank you.

Good post except for 2 things (which I guess is everything).

He was on the farm. They brought him in after August. He wasn't good enough to be up here so they "called him up", regardless of how you'd like to rationalize it.

Once again, if you understand the concept of call ups, you would know he is not eligible to pitch in the playoffs no matter his form.

Keep up the good work.;)
I plan to. You're a moron. Try actually reading the rules before you spout misinformation. & if you want to call a pitcher with 50+ appearances a call-up, I don't know what to tell you.

Thought so, and thanks for the news. Nice adding yet more depth.

As for today, with Tanaka playing today, I really didn't expect much offense or a win. In the end, still can't believe Toronto took 3 of 4 in NY.
Outstanding.
MLB.com reports Tulo out for 2 - 3 weeks. So best case is shorter than that mentioned in gcostanza's post.

From the team's perspective, if the Jays have secured the AL East they probably will be happy with him taking it slowly otherwise they might want to speed things up.

Tulo of course has to be feeling good either way.

Worst case he should be OK for the play-offs.

.
Depending on residual pain and impairment. I guess half a Tulo is better than none though.

No need for the personal insult, is there?
shack knows his stuff.
No one is perfect.
Until this season, that was the rule.

Jays take 3 of 4 from the Yanks in NY. Can't ask for anything more
Nope. It wasnt realistic to go for another sweep.
3 out of 4 was the next best thing.

Cant wait for them to come to the Skydome

There was no need for his 'keep up the good work' comment, either. I'm well aware of the new rule and when it was changed, which is why I said what I said about Loup.

Updates:

Papa starts tomorrow in ATL, which raises the issue of whether Hutch is now definitively out of the rotation and if so, whether he goes to the Pen.

KC is slumping big time and got wrecked by Chris Davis and company last night. Jays are now only 2.5 back for overall AL best record.

Eddie out until "sometime" in the ATL series.

NYY starts Sabathia in TB tonight. Should be a high scoring game - at least for the Rays.

When the Jays visited Philly for a 2 game series in Aug. they split the series. Can't take any team for granted. Starting Buehrle and Hutch (on the road), is just a little scary to me. I know they are trying to set up there post season pitching rotation, but you gotta get there first.

Buehrle has normally been fine and has just had a couple of rough starts. Until the last blowout at Fenway, he was a top 20 pitcher in the AL and would be a #1 on several teams (Yanks, O's and Bosox included). Hutch, of course..........

Hutch pitching Wednesday signals a 6 man rotation. I predict Hutch will do well on Wednesday..he is a major league starter and this road woe thing will end. However, they could have gone..Buerhle, Price, Estrada all on regular rest..started Stroman Friday night at home. So the Hutch haters will have a field day if he does bad again.

CF's ball in that situation. Rookie or no. Obviously they didn't hear eachother. But there isn't any fault with Pillar here.
At that level I would say infielder continues back and does not call ball until able to comfortably make catch, which I realize is a grey area. Outfielder comes in and calls ball when able to make catch. If outfrielder calls ball infielder backs off, but outfielder has more latitude to call ball even if not quite sure of catch. If Tulo has called the ball, he should have a pretty easy play on it, which he did. Pillar got a little enthusiastic, But it is tough to say who called when and more emportantly who heard who. Really nobody to blame, but unfortunate and maybe preventable.

We're facing Teheran & Miller and both have great stuff, specially Miller who did a number on us last year.

The Yanks will get Odorizzi & Archer so that won't be a walk in the park either.

As for Stroman.....I think Zaun's luke-warm commentary was about right. Command was okay, his slider didn't have much bite, and his fastball topped out at 93. I'm sure it'll get better with every start.
