The scouting report I just read on Matt Boyd says that his fastball has added some speed this year getting as high as 94, usually sitting aroud 89. He has a really great walk rate, something like 1 walk per 9 innings.

Jeff Blair said today that the Cincinnatti Reds have had scouts watching every single start Boyd has made in the minors this year and he thinks they're in trade talks with the Jays.

Reds drafted Boyd in 2012, but he didn't sign and went back for his senior year.
They must really like him, he'd be more suited to the NL with the pitcher friendly parks and no DH.

Perhaps Jays maybe more interested in the Reds' Mike Leake than Johhny Cueto,
A reliable starter with a good track record and also due to become FA after this season. Leake wouldn't cost any of our top arms like Hoffman or Norris.

Jays are banking on Stroman and Norris in their rotation next year. Buehrle and Dickey might be on the way out. Boyd might be odd man out in a 2016 rotation of Stroman, Norris, Sanchez, Estrada and Hutch.

The MLB did the steroid test themselves. It was a surprise test and they wanted to see how many players were juiced. At the time steroids were not against MLB rules, thats why they never punished Arod.

When MLB posts that article on their site without refuting its veracity, any reasonable person can deduce he indeed tested positive.

He's also gonna be 40 yrs old next month, and he's still playing like a 20-year old. Add to that he Biogenesis mess, and IIRC he loosely admitted to PED use in an ESPN interview (I'll see if I can find that interview on youtube).

The man is a cheat
Where have I ever said he didn't do PED's?

Has he cheated? Most likely.

He's not the only one.

Estrada is not likely to be with the team next year because he's an unrestrited free agent at the end of this season.

Hutch is no lock to be part of the starting rotation next year.
He's possibly the worst 7-1 pitcher in the history of MLB.
If he's throwing like this next year he'll probably be in Buffalo since the Jays still have an option or two on him.

Good points, but I guess we'll see what happens. Jays could re sign Estrada. Hutch is not so much unskilled or inept as inconsistent. Depending on the day, he can be brilliant or awful with little in the middle. In fact, that largely explains his w-l record. When he's good, he very good and is likely to get a win. When he is bad, he's often out of the game by the 3rd inning and the team has lots of time to take him off the hook.

For once a Toronto sports team has luck on their side. Who would have guessed in spring training that Il Bello and Officer Ponch would produce like they have?

Jeff Blair, echoed by Jay Sharman, said that Seba Giovinco is the best athlete in Toronto. Considering that his 250th home run was all but ignored, what would Joey Boom Bats make of that comment?

And as Gene Wilder says: "I must, I must".

Matt Boyd starting today, looking forward to seeing the kid's stuff. God I'm super high on the future of the Jays rotation - Stroman, Sanchez, Norris, Hutchison, Hoffman, Boyd, Harris....you can never have enough quality arms.

Once again the AL East has the best record in baseball at 13 games over .500 and the next best is 6 over.

The Jays, who can't seem to do much of anything right according to our moan-and-groan-after-every -loss TERBGMs, are hanging very tough and slowly moving up in the toughest division about 40% of the way through the season.

Lots of meaningful (meaning tension filled) games left in this season.

Kid's in tough. Opposing arm, Yovanni Gallardo has an era under 3 and is riding a hot streak. We'll need every Blue Jay and Parrot we can muster this afternoon!

Aside from KC, hard to see much quality in the other divisions. Twins might be a flash in the pan. I despise Houston as wild swingers who happen to be blessed with a good starting staff and Altuve. And no one else is showing up for a pennant run.

Not a very good debut for Boyd IMO. Jays pitchers in the system need a lot more work.

Boyd was ok....should not have been sent out in the 7th......but this was a day for Gallardo, sometimes a good pitcher just beats you
