actually Estrada was very good tonight. A squib hit started a rally...ok the next guy walked so that is on Estrada....and then Colabello let a ball get buy him..if he played it safe would have saved a run. And Cruz homers off a lot of guys. What the game shows that even with a decent offence, good pitching wins and you don't often beat the aces.

Got to shake your head at Bautista...took 3 called strikes in first...really doesnt look dangerous.

Correct, Estrada pitched quite well tonight.
I'll take his performance tonight as a 5th starter every time out.

Will never happen, but wondering if it would improve the team to sit Bautista. He produces from time to time, but also hits .220 and wrecks inning after inning. Pillar and Goins are also weak at the plate. There is no way that this team can wear down quality opposing pitchers
Him and EE need to be traded ASAP for quality pitching

Agreed, except that Bautista is continuing to get bad calls. Balls called strikes, I think he should be congratulated on his patience. Maybe his bad shoulder is (sub-consciously) affecting his hitting.

At least starting pitching seems to be coming round.

Why rush him? He is only 22 and has his whole life ahead of him. This season is a write-off anyway, nothing to gain and everything to lose by rushing him. Remember how the Nationals protected Strasberg?

It's not up to Stroman, the team will decide when he's ready, and they're not going to rush him back. I would be surprised if he even gets in a single game this year.

He's being positive.

That-said... There have been cases where guys with ACL injuries have returned same-season so it's not impossible.

The Jays have a relationship with the guys at Duke he's working with- he's in good hands and I do believe he may be back in the bullpen in September.... He won't be rushed.

What a bummer today though. The pitching has picked up. These freak' injuries (and dumb moves like Valencia not hustling today), are killing us. I so wanna see a walk-off win. We haven't had one all season.

Donaldson had one earlier this year. Walk off in the 10th inning against the Braves.

By the way Jenn, Kawasaki is back!:D

Know what- I've either watched or listened to every game except maybe two so far this season- so I won't dispute that- I missed his walk off win then :(

Walk offs really are uplifting though and one could help now. One would've been great both today and yesterday. :(

We aren't that far back in the AL East though- I still belieff:)

Hopefully they get their shit together before my birthday cause I'm really looking forward to my awesome seats in 2 weeks but we are playing the Astros :(

I know Mune is back and I still love him but thankfully Goins is not injured and Reyes will be back here on Monday so I'm happy Kawasaki's return will be brief... A little positivity boost could help now.

I honestly anticipated a winning streak to start once he was called up but that didn't happen...

Went to the game today. It was a great day inside with the roof open.

A couple of observations:

* I wish they would show replays on the big screen, similar to how they do on TV. So many plays you would like to see a replay or a view from a different angle. It's not like they are running an ad, they are just showing the stats of the guy at bat
* Beer is over $10 a pop! That's crazy but there are a lot of buyers
* The turf looks good. It is a nice shade of green
* The new requirements for getting in (metal detector unit) was not that bad.
* Fun atmosphere for the kids
* Some variety in food (at least on the 100 level). Prices are a little high, but not that bad. Line-ups are busy on weekend games, especially bobble-head days.
* Lot's of nice looking ladies
* Foot traffic in and out the dome was not bad considering it was a weekend crowd. A lot of fun things, like the silver Elvis, batman, the drummer...
* The CN Tower is still a sight to see up close. Too bad they removed the mini-putt that used to be at the base, it was fun.
* Getting downtown was not too bad and parking was cheap ($6) about 5-6 blocks away. Nice day to walk downtown and see the sights.

When I lived downtown and in mid-town I used to go quite often, back in the hey-day when weekday night crowds were 45 -50,000 fans. The dome atmosphere and area was not as exciting/fun then as it is now.

All it would take is for them to lead the East a couple of months and Toronto would be in full Blue-Jay fever again.

That was a very positive post, enjoyed it. It's getting harder and harder to be positive with this team though....

so....what happened to officially giving up????????
I still watch all the games because I'm a huge fan, I just think chances of Jays even grabbing a WC spot are between zero and none

So was I up to last year and now the same old crap. I even flew the Jays banner from my car. Not now. Enough. This whole thing smacks of the Maple Leaf situation. They'll have to prove they are worthy of the fan base before I start watching every game again.

Long live Bruce Jefferson.
