Blue Jays: 2015 edition

Gibby isn't going anywhere this season unless the team collapses (which I doubt will happen- if our pitching keeps trending upwards, we should be a at least a +.500 team all season).

He's a good manager- he makes smart calls every single night. (Last night it was pitching around Jones and likely ending Buerhle's night despite a low pitch count).

People love to hate him but I read A LOT of analysis (not just from TO journalists). I listen to A LOT of sports talk radio)
The only people who call for Gibbons' head are angry fans after losses. I have not seen one "expert" or heard one player (former or present) when interviewed say anything to suggest Gibby is not a good manager.

^^^^ Jenster, at the end of the day its about getting results. Gibby has failed miserably in this department over last 8 years

Sometimes I find blaming the/a pitcher too easy.
What about our vaunted offence ? The Jays sent only three batters in the inning to the plate five times. Four times, including three middle innings in a row, the Jays went meekly three up and three down, and the ninth. In the second a lead off single was erased on a DP.
Houston ? Three times, including the second where a single was erased by a DP. Also being the home team and leading in the ninth, they batted eight innings.

The Blue Jays are first in Runs Scored and RBIs. Hits eighth, BB tied 10th, team BA 11th.
Can we improve the pitching of course, but if we had more timely hitting the team would be better positioned to make deals and in the standings.

Loup had Castro on base already, then walks Chris Carter with something like a .150 average. Why on earth didn't Loup go after Cater with strikes instead of pitching so cautious.
Once he put Carter on, I figured the flood gates would open with Osuna was no where near ready to come in.

Just terrible to see a 2 run lead blown, and a great effort by Hutch wasted :frusty:
Yes. Loup was awful and not for the first time. His ERA is now fast approaching 7.

Saunders will be out another 4-6 weeks and will have the surgeon re examine his bum knee. This dude just can't stay healthy, as a matter of fact Seattle's GM called him out publicly for not being in proper shape and avoiding injuries.

The Happ / Saunders trade stinks the joint out right now, given Jays' weak pitching and Saunders injuries.

Estrada was OK.

Gibbon's just gave the game away (probably) by bringing in Francis. Guys on BBB are not singing his praises with some wanting him gone, as well as Francis.

Predictably Francis puts 2 men on base with no one out who all score with a home run by the next batter (off Hendricks). So 3 - 2 turns to 3 - 6.

Hard to keep watching this team.

While I don't think alot of money should be spent on relief pitching, AA has spent nothing on pitching in general. A whole winter of tinkering with the lineup and not one improvement to the pitching staff. Sure, I agree on taking some fliers on a few pitchers in the pen, but his constant expectation of guys like Dickey, Burle, and now Stroman to carry this team is laughable. They'll remain an average team until two reliable top-of-the-rotation starters are brought in.

E.E. provides a glimmer of hope in the 9th but they still lose, Travis has to leave with a sore shoulder what else can go wrong?

Gibby should be fired for this bonehead move alone.

I wanna know how Jennifer plans on justifying this brilliant idea

Actually, it should have been the right move, a left handed pitcher, pitching to two left handed batters, in theory advantage pitcher. The dumb ass had Rasmus 0-2 when he gave up the double.
Again half decent start from the starter, nothing from the pen. Pitching is a disaster!

That would depend on the quality of the lefthanded pitcher
