Not yelling crude language in a public place and purposely disrupting someone's work for your own pleasure is not a matter of political correctness it is just simply respectful and courteous behaviour.

Why should people have the right to do this?

It's not really a crime though either is it?

Stupid - yes

Inconsiderate - yes

Dumb-assed - yes

But none of those are crimes last time I checked.

The guy who was fired was not at work at the time. He was at a soccer game.

Thank you ;-)

BTW you guys didnt even catch the right guy, he shows up at 0:02 seconds, then disappears, and the rest of the "guilty" party shows up, who have said nor done absolutely nothing incriminating........LOL.

Watch it for yourselves:

Ok, Which guy is the Hydro One worker? I assumed it was the guy at 2s that made the FHITP comment.

If it is the guy in red that the reporter approaches at 15s, I would say he was fired for the wrong reason as he was fairly respectable.

I am not a lawyer so i dont know if ot is illegal. But on the news a cop was discussing that charges could be laid.

But that is not really my point. All i am saying is that if you do something that you know is inappropriate you shouldn't be surprised if you receive a consequence.

Or another way to look at it is...... just because an inappropriate behaviour doesn't have a serious consequence doesn't mean you should do it.

I think that type of behaviour is cowardly because you are banking on people not doing anything.

Do we need a law for every inappropriate behaviour? Or should we just trust that people know how to act.

So you have never laughed at an off-color joke, or said something insulting or stupid after a few beers in your private time and not on the company clock??

Because if you say yes, you are the most perfect human being I've ever come across.
Dalai Lama should nominate you for sainthood

Look if you guys are right then he gets a settlement for wrongful dismissal.

But i am guessing that the people who made the decision did their homework. Similar to why ghomeshi dropped his suit against the cbc.

It probably was overly harsh but within the employers rights.

I am not sure about hydro one but some jobs you are considered on the clock all the time like doctor cop teacher so the idea that this is his free time may not apply.

Anyway s i do see the point that this guy is getting the shaft. I just dont feel much need to defend him he chose to say those things.

He could have just said "you are right i am sorry" but like a lot of dumb assets he chose to defend a stupid position.

Yes i could be fired.

is my boss over for dinner? Is there someone taping me?

There is always a risk of a consequence just ask the nba owner who was taped.

Why are you trying so hard to find an acceptable forum for unacceptable behaviour?

Then what difference does it make it it was during private time or at the stadium

Why are you trying so hard to find an acceptable forum for unacceptable behaviour?
I'm not. I realize interrupting TV reporters is a bit rude.
I think firing is overkill.

They shouldve given him 1 month suspension without pay.
Make him take feminist sensitivity courses.
And make him apologize publicly on his facebook acct.

That should be the end of it.

I hope he sues and I hope he wins big

Canadian Criminal Law/Offences/Causing a Disturbance

175. (1) Every one who
(a) not being in a dwelling-house, causes a disturbance in or near a public place,
(i) by
fighting, screaming, shouting, swearing, singing or using insulting or obscene language,
(ii) by being drunk, or
(iii) by impeding or molesting other persons,

Call it a wild guess but telling a female reporter that you will fuck her pussy during a live telecast might qualify.

fighting, screaming, shouting, swearing, singing or using insulting or obscene language
And yet the guy who got fired never used any obscene language.

Did you even watch the video??

Yes, the guy that said 'fucking' and a few other expletives bleeped out about 10 times over and over while defending the 'fucking pussy' comment was the guy I told got fired from Ontario Hydro - have I got the wrong guy ? He was the most persistent vocal asshole of the lot.

The difference is that in privste the risk is smaller. But still present.

Look if racist and sexist jokes are that important to your quality of life do it in private but know that it still comes with a risk.

You probably wont believe this but I personally dont care for making sexist/racist remarks myself.

You're missing the point, I'm much more concerned with erosion of free speech and the PC police who are given way too many powers nowadays. I also find trial by social media and social justice warriors very dangerous to our freedoms, especially when they get to decide what offensive or not (see Justin Trudeau).

Let me ask you one more question, FC. What if those TFC guys had called her a "fat fuck", do you think they shouldve lost their jobs over that as well??
