We dont have a closer.
We have a limited bullpen (although there are some decent arms there).
We also have limited starting pitching (and I'm being nice).
We have great offense, however.
And we have very good defensive players.

TRANSLATION: We'll finish about .500, maybe slightly above. Which should be good for either 4th or 5th place

Another absolutely HORRENDOUS pitching meltdown with Hutchinson and Castro blowing a 4-run lead!

You're not being 'nice' AK, you're being Charitable.

Starting pitching is the Cornerstone of all successful baseball teams.

There's no excuse for blowing a 6-1 lead, unfortunately it looks like we're going to be stuck with inconsistent pitching the rest of the season.

Time to replace Gibby.

Nice guy, but you cannot fire the team.

Its a shame, because we have a really good offensive/defensive ballclub

Is this the worst pitching staff for the Jays in 30 years? Even Buerhle may have reached the end of the line. No ace, no stopper, no closer, ineffective coaching and managing......makes for a very long season

Good bye Gibby. Good bye Petey. Maybe good bye Alex, too!

And if were up to me, good bye Dickie, too, if the BJ's can get anyone decent for him.

Rogers is in a real bind. They kept a lame duck Beasley who really does not want to be where he is and now there is no one to pull the string unless they get directly involved.

I always thought that the people at Rogers were foolish when it came to baseball, but if they don't act now they will show themselves to be stupid, too.

Looking at the stats, Francis got the loss. Before he came into the game Jays were in the lead still (6-4?) Seems like he allowed 2 inherited batters to score plus 2 more runs to be scored for just the one out. With the benefit of hindsight, Gibbons would have done better leaving Hutchison in the game or bringing in someone else. He wasn't to know Francis was going to be that bad, of course, but even so he isn't the strongest reliever by any means.

Gibby probably the first to go as AA tries to save his sorry ass. IMO AA should be the first to go. These are his players and his manager!
Well, AA looks to be a genius w Donaldson, Travis and Pillar. And Pompey could well come around. And what about the Bautista and Encarnacion trades?

And was the BJ's pitching any great shakes last year? Not exactly. All that's happened is that Buehrle and Dickey suddenly look their age, Morrow has been dumped and Stroman is injured.

I will agree on Donaldson and add Martin. Pillar was scheduled to be the back up outfielder but has been better than advertised, Travis was suppose to be a year or more away and again has over achieved. He brought Dickey and Burhle and neither have lived up to their billings, unless your satisfied with 200 mediocre innings. Stroman's injury was unfortunate but he wasn't going to carry the starters. The bullpen is a joke.
How many years has AA been here and how many times has his team made the playoffs???? To me the best deal he made was the Vernon Wells trade . IMO AA is an Over rated under achiever

"Cy" Dickie is 28-29 since he came to the BJ's. Not so sudden a deterioration!

Buehrle is doing what he is being paid to do: he is 28-22 and eating innings. Of course, both this year and last he has been getting uncanny run support.

Can any one name one pitcher who is better now than when he joined the team? You could argue Stroman...but player improvement is a sign of good management.

Ergo, player deterioration is a sign of shitty management... which, if I may say so, is what I have been saying for the past 2 years or so... :frusty:

I do like AA and I think he's made some good moves but i think Bats and EE were brought in by Ricciardi.
