Toronto Blue Jays reliever Kyle Drabek has been claimed on waivers by the Chicago White Sox.

Drabek, 27, spent most of the 2014 season with Toronto’s triple-A Buffalo affiliate, where he posted a 4.18 ERA with 68 strikeouts and 30 walks in 99 innings. He started 13 games with the Bisons while pitching in relief 19 times.

Initially acquired along with Michael Taylor and Travis d’Arnaud for Roy Halladay in December of 2009, Drabek struggled to realize his potential with the Blue Jays. The former first-round pick posted a 5.27 ERA with 118 strikeouts and 111 walks in parts of five seasons at the big league level, mostly as a starter.

Drabek is out of options, meaning he had to clear waivers before being sent to triple-A. The move opens a spot up on the 40-man roster of the Blue Jays, who also announced that left-hander Scott Barnes cleared waivers and was outrighted to triple-A.
So - as it stands today, the Blue Jays traded Roy Halladay for R A Dickey and Devon Travis. I sure hope Travis turns out to be a really good player, otherwise I would suggest the Phillies won this one.

You have to remember the Jays had no leverage. It was public knowledge Halladay wanted out.

Probably Hutchison, Dickey, Buehrle, Norris and Sanchez (not necessarily in that order).

BP probably Cecil, Loup, Redmond, Estrada, Hynes, Castro and Osuna. (One or two others still could make before Osuna).

I expect both Delabar and Jenkins to be back up with the club within the first month or two. They had options so it made sense to send them down. Francis is brittle and won't last. Estrada will probably move to the rotation when one of Sanchez or Norris struggles out of the gate or if an injury happens. Hynes is a complete wildcard he's been lights out in spring but sports a career 9.00 ERA in limited innings. The problem as I see it is there are too many lefties in our pen - Cecil, Loup, Francis and Hynes and only Estrada can be stretched out over 3+ innings.

I am however buoyed by the fact that our young arms are excelling at such an early age. Let's hope they can keep it up and stay healthy.

Seems Dustin McGowan was just released by the Dodgers . He had a horrible spring, and likely his last.
Gotta give him credit for trying after so many years of injuries.

I agree. There is spec that they might go w 7 relievers and that would let them keep Goins up as utility of/if.

Agree, bench looks pretty skinny....glad Buffalo is so close!
Once Saunders returns from the DL, a reliever will be sent down to Buffalo and Pillar will be the 4th outfielder (or platoon in CF with Pompey).
