I'm not going buy my beer in a bottle (unless it is in an SC) just so some unionists can feather their nest. Bottles break and they weigh a ton.

Ha! I'd boycott the whole effing LCBO (and beer store) if possible!
For someone who moved here from Europe their prices are outrageous.

That strike has been going on for over a year. Who stays on strike for a year to work in a factory that makes cans? Who cares where the cans are made?

I find it amusing that every Union public service ad pronouncing what is best for the public is also entirely coincidental with the union's best interests.

I also find it amusing that one can be considered "middle class" when you make beer cans for a living.

“Despite 17 months on the picket line, these men and women continue to fight for a middle-class future for their families and for the next generation of workers,” Warren said.

If you don't know why they are on strike then keep your mouth shut and stop looking like a fool.

And what if you happen to know why they're on strike, disagree with the principles behind said strike, feel that unions routinely above collective bargaining and that due to many unions, barely skilled individuals make far too much as it is?

The people who do have my sympathy are the little old Chinese ladies who venture out in all kinds of weather to collect empty beer cans to redeem for 10 cent each.

I never buy a beer that says,..."union made" on the label.

The only way to have control over unions, is to pick on unionised manufacture, and everybody boycott that manufacture,...and publicize.

That would help with the balance of power.

You will see things happen real fast.

Every time I hear that obnoxious ad, I want to go out and buy more beer in cans. Just because these under educated low skilled mullats want to make the same money as someone who actually has a skill set, doesn't mean that they represent a meaningful cause...

Years ago, my friend worked in the office of a unionized manufacturing plant. They had a piece of equipment on an assembly line break down which left 15 employees standing around doing nothing. This also meant they couldn't supply auto parts for the "just in time" shipments to one of the big 3 auto makers, which is a big deal.

They went to their unionized maintenance department to get them to repair the machine. They were told they were too busy and that it would be several days before they could look at the machine. Naturally, management needed to get the machine repaired to resume production so they hired an outside firm to fix the machine.

What happened next was an all out war between the union and management. This according to the union was a violation of their rights (bla bla bla) so in protest everyone stopped working. My friend could't believe just how unreasonable the union was being. If the company can't deliver parts, they will lose the contract and everyone would be out of a job. This is how self-centered unions can be. It boggles the mind.

All they were trying to do was get a piece of equipment repaired, get people back to work and satisfy their customer's needs. But no, the union would have none of that!

He said it was toxic environment to work in. The union continued to make doing business extremely difficult with their "we'll show them" attitude. From then on, maintenance would regularly take 6-8 hours to repair something that should have taken just 5 minutes.

The owners became increasingly fed up with the union's actions and moved the plant to Mexico putting 350 well paid employees out of work. Shortly after the owners began getting death threats and one of them had his car torched.

Unions... Gotta love love'm!

When all the union busting is done, hope you are happy with lower wages, and employers who will have absolutely zero incentive to keep Canadian people employed with decent wages. They'll hire people fresh out of school, or fresh out of the immigration office for a quarter of your wage. I'm by no means a union apologist, but seriously, you anti-union guys better be careful what you wish for. Without a union, that manufaturing plant mentioned above me would have moved to Mexico sooner than they already did.

I Have personally experienced that type of union idiotic actions numerous times,...and people wonder why unions are looked at in disgust,...

Unions have cost 10's thousands of good paying jobs, closed plants for ever,...but its still UNIFOOLS for ever.

All of the idiotic union supporters here, have NO clue what goes on manufacturing, and yet blame every body else except the real cause behind the lost of manufacturing in Canada
