When asked how many sex workers had responded, and what kind of feedback they’re giving her, Bedford said in an email to the Star Thursday: “I don’t want to say any more about that. I want to take a couple of weeks and go over the responses and other discussion results with my advisors.”

Bedford better have some very strong evidence to back up her allegations though, because nobody will believe her on her word alone

Even if she has photos - which I have heard are out there, the guy(s) can still say is was just sex -not paid sex.

Perhaps. But should the Conservative party not be scandalized that some of their own MP's, upholders of virtue and moral rectitude, have committed acts of adultery and fornication?

Would that not call for resignation, or perhaps public confession of one's sins?

It would be funny if Peter Mackay himself was one of them or even better Joy Smith's Husband.
I always wondered about Joy Smith's husband. Maybe she's not getting any or something. Maybe she caught him and now wants to punish all of us for his sins? A kind of reverse Jesus.

If I am correct:

The motion passed on June 12, was for the Bill to be debated for a limited amount of time, and be voted upon afterwards, for its first reading.

The motion that was passed on June 16 was for Bill C-36 to go pass the second reading, and move to the HoC Justice Committee.

The motion that was passed on September 25 was to impose a time limit on the debates for the report stage, of all the motions calling for changes to the Bill, as well as for the third reading.

The motion that failed on September 29 was Elizabeth May's that called for the deletion of the Bill. The one that passed the same day was to conclude the report stage, and move to the third reading itself.
Excellent, thx R! Just wanted to make sure I interpreted the jargon correctly. Xo

Did you ever think you'd need to be an expert at interpreting Parliamentary procedures?

We are going to have to take reverdy out for beers to reward him for his diligence in helping the rest of us keep up to speed on what's happening. :clap2:

what Bedford might do, if she's clever, is release the names of the politicians NOT NOW, BUT RATHER DURING THE ELECTION CAMPAIGN, release the name of one politician every day starting at the start of the campaign, that way you have maximum effect, the Cons will take a hit in the polls surely, even if there's no evidence to back up, the fact that Bedford is releasing politician's names during an election campaign will surely hurt the Cons, they'll be news every day, a new scandal every day, the Cons may not survive that.

So I believe the question Bedford has to mull over is not whether or not to release the names, but when. Timing is everything. You have to have maximum impact.

There's no sense firing a missile into a military convoy area once the tanks have already left the area, the missile will explode and not have any effect. Timing timing timing folks

Bedford wrote to Ontario's Premier asking her not te enforce it and she acknowlged her letter.
I wish we could hear more from her! I just read the 3rd reading summary & I'm pleased the Manitoba Minister has said they won't enforce c-36 as-is.

The Manitoba minister came to tell us that he would not enforce the legislation this way. We create laws, but it is the provinces and territories and the police that then enforce them. How will they do that?
This doesn't make sense. He's one of those who's been pushing the Nordic model and he spoke at length about how important John Schools are. I think that comment probably only refers to the provision that still criminalizes prostitutes themselves near schools. Minister Swan is a supporter of C-36, but pretty much everyone is against that part. But anyway, it's clear that enforcement will vary greatly from place to place.

Did conservatives consult with provinces?
They didn't consult with anyone that did not agree with them. Overall, I think relations between Harper and the provinces is almost non-existent. If provinces refuse to use the law he will simply blame them for the failure.

I don't think Harper really cares how the law is enforced. If he cared, he would give a lot of extra budget for enforcement. Like Françoise Boisvin said, if they were serious about the issue they would have to put their money where their mouth is. All they say is just for show. It's just a sales pitch. In Sweden, they invested millions on enforcing their new law and on propaganda. It was a stupid law, but at least they were serious about it. Here they're just giving a bit of money for those evangelical groups that support them.

So, I wasn't going to post this on terb, but a heated debate in the massage section lead me to post it there....

http://www.happyhookersofcanada.com/uncategorized/an-outcry-for-more-letter-from-a-spa-owner/

This is my submission paper to the Senate & House of Commons. Attached was a zip file of all the letters posted on HHC + several private letters sent directly to Jessica Lee and/or myself. This whole package was emailed & snail-mailed to every Senator & MP last week.

I'd like to thank everyone who wrote letters!! The submissions from workers & clients alike are so wonderful, powerful, heartfelt, & honest. I deeply appreciate everyone taking time out to participate!

Lastly, I'd like to send more letters, so if you wish to add your story, either post it on HHC or email us if you prefer a private submission.

Love always,
Emily.
