Um. Did anyone notice that 4 of our top hitters are and or were injured during this little losing streak? As well as other minor bang -ups? Starters have beeen good for the most part.
If we can hold it together for a couple of weeks after the all-star break we then finally get the easy part of the schedule for August. And Baltimore has the toughest for them. I expect we will make up this little streak and head into September for a battle.
We play the O's the final weekend. Wouldn't you love(ya I know, better to wrap it up early) to see them tied going into it?

1st half record: 49-47...need a minimum of 90W to make post season. The Jays will start a second half of the season with 66 games to go. That means they will need to win at least 40 out of 66 just to make it interesting down the stretch for Jays fans.
It is going to be very tough for the current Jays roster to make it into the playoff for the first time in 22 years! If the Rays cannot stay in Florida they should move here with Maddon in tow. Then, we give away Gibbons and the Jays to Montreal!

The good news is that ALE is quite weak this year. So might not need 90 to win it.

Baltimore is 52-42 which means to win 90 games they need to win 38 out of 68, which is a .559 winning percentage. Up until now they have a .553 winning percentage. That means they have to play better down the stretch than they have up until now.
I guess my points are that,
A) the division is far from locked up and
B) in spite of history the AL east is shit this year and unless somebody gets super hot, the winner will have less than 90 wins. I'd say 87 or 88.
We can't count on the Orioles to falter on their west coast trips starting tomorrow. The Jays have to play much better right off the bat without 3 of their best starting hitters in the lineup. They cannot afford to fall anymore games behind division leader when play resumes tomorrow. Jays start the second half with 2 series at home against below .500 teams,TEX and BOS. There are 7 games in total at home then they go on the road to NYY for another 3 with the Yanks. Even without their best players during this short stretch Jays have to have a winning record for the 10 games portion.

If I'm a jays fan,I am wishing that the Orioles come home with a similar record to the Jays when the Jays were out there a few weeks ago. But,the Jays should take care of their business at home as they prepare to face the Rangers tomorrow. I will be satisfied if Jays swept all 7 games at home!

I'm curious who the armchair managers think is available at this point...and what exactly they are willing to give up.
Personally when I see the young arms in Hutch, Strolman, and Sanchez I see a long bright future with Players UNDER CONTROL for a long period of time. So unless you are willing to part with someone big off the roster, I don't see where we have a deal to be made.

It says tons about AA's performance as GM over the past 5 years...
From AA to MLB the BJ's are thin in developed talent.

I'll agree on position players. But it looks like the pitching is going to work out petty damn good in the future. I think I read an article on that's where he tended to concentrate.
