Here
Are they proceeding with an unmanned submersible to scan the ocean floor with sonar? I believe that could take several weeks.
If they have no clear idea where to look, that could take months or years!

To ensure the insurance payout is provided to his family and to protect them from the stigma being associated with such a heinous act. It would not surprise me is if that plane is in the **************s trench now
Ah! The **************'s Trench.

That'd be the one sharing a name with the Tennyson poem that goes:

With blackest moss the flower-plots
Were thickly crusted, one and all:
The rusted nails fell from the knots
That held the pear to the gable-wall.

Mmm. And the fact that fuji kept changing his mind on what we were discussing, then proceeded to try and dictate what we should be allowed to discuss. Apparently, because City Council wants information from certain sources, we can't discuss the information that's plainly available since it's availability is rejected by council. Here I thought I was on a "discussion forum" where we could engage in discussion. If fuji wants to play politician, I have no desire to speak with him. There's a reason I'm not in politics, so if someone becomes nothing more than a talking head for a politician, I've lost any interest in discussing things with them. I mean, how can you have a discussion with an individual when their response, no matter what's said, is "Go talk to the City Manager." I'm not talking to the city manager, I'm talking on a forum. All the information is available, it just isn't considered "official" yet. And since people are pressuring their representatives based on what they believe based on what they hear in the media and on discussion forums, I just happened to believe they should understand the facts. The details and data for which is all available, even though Council doesn't care to believe it until some other agency confirms that companies the size of Bombardier that have conducted these tests hundreds of times on hundreds of aircraft have managed to conduct them properly.

In any case, since fuji didn't want to participate in the discussion but kept piping up, I just put him on ignore. It was like talking to a kid who puts their fingers in their ears and goes "lalalala I'm not listening". It didn't matter what data I put in front of him, what references where there, he didn't read a single thing. And don't dare ask him for a reference. It'll take 3 pages before he does, and then he'll provide a link and a quote, but the quote won't even come from that link! I'm not OCD, but I am a perfectionist, and it was the easiest way to avoid correcting him at every turn, which seems to be every other post he makes since he figures himself an expert on all subjects.
..or you could drop the arrogant bluster and admit that after all the data needed to make a good decision really isn't available yet, which is exactly what I was telling you for weeks, right up until our city council passed a motion stating exactly the same thing.

**************?

WTF? Since when is M-a-r-i-a-n-a a prohibited word?

Because it sounds like cannabis by another name?

Prudish dictionary!

They knew exactly where to look for Air France 447 and it still took 2 years. This is a needle in a haystack. I'm with you, if it takes weeks it'll be a miracle.

Meanwhile it is a fact that council passed a motion stating that they would wait until they have all the facts, repudiating BL's silly claim that they had all the facts. He wound up calling the Deputy City Manager a liar and then having his claims smashed by council itself. No wonder he is playing ostrich now.
Fuji- who are you trying to convince? He never said any of the things you are posting- it doesn't count if you twist someone else's words and then claim victory.

He sure did, he went on and on about how we do have all the information and he only shut up when council passed that motion confirming that we don't.

I think they have an idea, and have heard weeks to months, and hopefully not longer than that.

(To the others, thanks for your replies too).

No- you twisted what he said to make a strawman and then claimed victory based on what council passed. You do this sort of thing all the time- not sure if you really believe what you post but not many others do

Yeah, he didn't like the fact that all the data is available in the face of his inane claims that it wasn't, then suddenly he changes gears and it's about whether that data is good enough for politicians or not. He's also managed to ignore the fact that no one disputed that council would postpone it, I pretty much said that flat out as well - they're politicians and they don't want to make a decision right before a vote. So I guess that means I was right too, because I also predicted they wouldn't pass it. They just have the convenient excuse of being able to say they want data certified. Well, ok fine. But we as the citizenry need to share what we want and believe with our politicians, and I believe we should do that by reviewing the data and educating ourselves on how these things work. So I presented the data and reference sources for everyone to read and learn, so they can decide where they sit on the issue and advise their representatives accordingly. But of course, fuji couldn't admit so much of what he said was false, so he suddenly changes gears - we're no longer people talking on a discussion forum about what we personally think of the expansion, we're suddenly only talking about what source politicians will accept in order to make a decision so close to an election. Suddenly it's not about what he says, now I'm directed to some politician downtown. He's not on these forums, he has no part in the discussion of "disproving" me. I have no time for that. I deal with politics at work. I get enough of that "but we need to wait for such and such even though all the information is here in front of our faces" at work, I have no desire to put up with someone who's going to play that same ridiculous game just to avoid having to admit they don't know what they're talking about.

He can claim victory all he wants - I don't think anyone is fooled. The last post of his I did see involved him still maintaining that the TSB will be helping out, even though it's clear to anyone who reads that they aren't. They submitted one report, fuji read one sentence that mentioned them, and because he has no idea what they are, he's clung to the claim that they're involved. When a man goes to lengths that great to avoid admitting they made a mistake, they've obviously got issues. He thinks I can't admit I'm wrong - but I've done so in a few threads around here already, something I'm pretty sure he's failed to do a single time in his bajillion posts here.

In any case, now that they're narrowing in on MH370 and there won't be any news until they've actually found the thing, I'm quite content to see other things dominating the news.

All the data is not available. Council has said all the data is not available. The City Manager has said all the data is not available. You are just completely blatantly and obviously wrong, no matter how arrogantly you may try to write your reply, you are still going to be wrong. The data isn't available. Period. It won't be available until 2015. Period.

If you think it is available then let's pick one: Where's the noise impact assessment? No, not some rating for the plane. The assessment of what impact that will have on the community. This is data that council needs to make a decision, and it is not going to be available until 2015.

You can keep on mooing all you want, the data isn't available, and it has been authoritatively stated by the entire City Council that it is not available.

You just stepped in poop because he's just repeated his demented claim that the data is available. Let me know if you're man enough to apologize to me.

Gents, what data? Why are you talking about City Council in this thread? Please battle it out on another thread. (BTW Fuji, Ford has got to resign if Tory has any chance of beating Olivia Chow due to a splitting of the right vote, but Doug Ford is probably pissed off at the 'elite' or 'establishment' for not letting him run as an MPP, and not withdrawing. Damn it!)

Lots. For starters, noise impact assessment, confirmation of marine exclusion zone. Also, completion of a traffic management plan expected to include 300 million in infrastructure upgrades with no agreement on who pays that money. Porter likely hoping your property taxes will pay it.

All righty. I think it's a good idea but limited jet use and perhaps more vetting of those details. For one thing, and I can tell you as I'm in the construction industry, the construction unions are for it. The waterfront is urban and no Riviera. As for financing, ever heard of PPP? Anyways, take it to another thread my friend.

They city's opinion is that Porter should pay for the upgrades since it's Porter that is going to receive the benefit, or, more specifically, that the Island Airport should tack on a fee to ticket sales to pay for the infrastructure upgrades. Porter, I think, was hoping to get the airport expansion approved BEFORE saying that it doesn't want to cough up $300 million. I really don't see why the city should pay it, $300 million should instead be used to fix the Gardiner Expressway, which seems to me to be a higher priority than the airport.
