I still think Reimer is a good goalie, but he's done in Toronto as he can't play under the Toronto media.
I think the media has treated him well and fairly.......as opposed to coach and GM. They gave him few enough starts that A) it was hard for him to stay sharp and B) each time he did play the pressure was intense as he was always on a short leash. No room for error for him.

By the time Bernier got injured Reimer's confidence was already shot (and we are now seeing the results) and it wasn't because of the media.

Riemer has played himself out of town.

Just consider this, if I remember correctly.

His previous game after the Olympics was against Columbus, behind 2-0. He had a good game coming in cold against LA, but next was Washington, behind 3-0. Next was Detroit, behind 2-0. Next was Tampa, had a lead but lost again. Tonight against Montreal, behind 2-0.

Reimer is an average goalie, a good backup maybe, definitely very average as a starter. Some good games with a few stinkers.

The team plays better in front of Bernier. That says a lot. The players know who is the number one goalie.

The Leafs will probably still make the playoffs. They just had to make it interesting.

Toronto really played well enough for the win, to come out with nothing hurts.

Don't like to see Bernier rushed, but pretty sure his return will translate into wins for the team. Reimer has lost his confidence, has struggled every game in Berniers absence.

Glad Bolland returned, I had no idea he would be dressed. Can't imagine Reimer playing tomorrow in NJ. After that its the Blues, Flyers and Wings..
According to TSN Bernier will not make the trip tomorrow to NJ.

now in goal for TRAWNA, wearing number #30, BRUCE GAMBLE! cmon guys, you had to know it was coming, lol! is it just me, or does anyone else think Carlyle is on a short leash? I know he one a won a cup in Anaheim, but for a guy that's supposed to be a defensive minded, man this team is a liability. he just seems like a scream and yell kinda guy too me. everytime you see him on tv he looks like he has to shit[ just like colin montgomerie]. I like gardiner, but it seems he has free reign now to take off when ever he wants, and he can skate like the wind, but in his own end, he is a BIG liability. for a guy preaching defense, I don,t see it, jmho.

Why a short leash, his number one goalie has been injured and his team hasn't been 100% for the last 60 games. It's surprising they've done this well, the last 6 games aside.

Looking at the SUN today .... 'Panic Button'

I want to make it clear, that is the stupid media not true Leaf Fans.
Wanted to get that out there before we get labeled with it. Most of the stupid crap Leaf Nation is labeled with is the fault of the fucking idiotic Toronto media.

GOALTENDING ....GOALTENDING.......GOALTENDING

The Leafs have had bad stretches and bounced back, but everything starts from goaltending. The teams competing for the playoffs are so close that the team(s) with great goaltending will make it. One team's strength is another team's weakness but no team can win without at least better than average goaltending plus great team effort. The Leafs can win even if Kessel has an off night, but will have no chance if their goaltender does.

Reimer (and his backers for that matter) has to look in the mirror and stop making excuses for his own performance. He had a great two period performance but shaky thereafter. Phaneuf and Lupul both have to be a lot better. As hard as Kessel and JVR are trying, I really think they've looked tired and not as sharp as before the Olympic break. Hopefully they're young enough to recover just in time for the playoff drive.

Did not watch the game tonight. However, did check out the score midway through the game. 3-0 New Jersey, 3 goals on 7 shots on goal. A familiar pattern for Leafs fans, and Riemer.

That is the bad news. The good news is the Leafs are still in a playoff position. Columbus loss, and Detroit only gained a point, when they had a third period lead at home.

With nine games remaining, Leafs are one of four teams fighting for 2 playoffs spots. Of the teams fighting for those spots, the only head to head match up for the Leafs is against Detroit three games from now.

The Leafs remaining schedule looks like it is neither difficult or easy. In other words, the Leafs must beat the teams they should beat, and has to win a couple against good teams.

Last two games on the schedule are on the road against teams that are way out of it. If the Leafs control their playoffs fate by then, they should make it into the tournement.

As long as Bernier comes back soon, the Leafs should be okay.

why didn't they start macintyre right from the beginning? sorry, i like reimer and all, he's a good kid, but he lost all his confidence and he's awful right now. can't see them pulling out a win against the first place blues, so it's not looking good. clarkson continues to be brutal... not only is he not scoring, the opposition scores when he's on the ice.

The Leafs are in a dive(news flash lol), but I do not think Carlyle is in trouble yet. Next season will be his first full, normal season.

Reimer if done as a Leaf, too bad. As soon as the off season trading starts they should do him a favour and trade him to a US based team(less of a spotlight).

It is a long shot but Matt Moulson would look good on the second line.

I am all for giving Clarkson at least 20-30 games into 2014/15 but if they can dump him and most if not all of his salary ... do it.

Just let Kulemin go.

I agree, reimer has lost it. but what about the defense... they suck, to quote Carlyle. everybody thinks once Bernie parent comes back, things will all be forgotten. we,ll see but I don,t think they make it. they need someone to step up and tell themselves to get some HEART, and start making an effort. the money some of these guys are making .... also that little puke, suck, pussy, kadri... is he the new bill barber?

I seem to remember a poster saying that it isn't Kadri's fault he was drafted 7th overall and it isn't his fault that he isn't a better player.
I don't think anyone has a higher opinion of his abilities than he does, himself.

Bring Back Sebastien Sentomo.

Randy Carlyle pulled a boner when he said Reimer was "just ok". Goalies are sensitive types, they eat quiche washed down with a good Virgin Mary like the rest of us. You know what's like when the boss doesn't have your back, you're always second guessing. With two young defensemen they Leafs were always going to struggle. The worst mistake the Leafs could make tonight is to start Bernier, if he aggravates his slats we're fucked.
