That's classic.

Really hard to not see even an OT against Washington or Detroit. The Wings with key injuries was especially painful to gain nothing from.

I remain a fan of Reimer, but honestly hope Bernier is back tonight. If not, give Drew MacIntyre a go. I know Toronto played horrible the first period in Washington, so will cut Reimer a break there.
But the Detroit game was much better of a team. Couple odd man rushes on Toronto, but Reimer has to stop those. All game against Detroit Reimer seemed to be shaky. Rolling in the crease, unable to control a rebound, and not coming out to challenge a shooter.

Have to start making up points fast, and no better time then now. I like your idea of the PPs too. On the first unit I'd have JVR parked in front of the net always, on the second unit it would be Clarkson.
Have to agree. He scored the first on himself, and the last he should have had. Reimer just inspires no confidence. This could get ugly fast if Bernier is out for any period of time.

Leafs lost.
Oh what happened ?
Steven Stamkos happened.

Looking for the silver lining ?
If the playoffs start with the standings as they are now, maybe it is an easier road for the Leafs.
First round vs Pittsburgh.
Should they win
Second round vs NYR / Philly winner.

So much for the feel good swing through 'dreaded' California. Leafs Nation was sky high after taking two of three.

Then the crash.
For me the loss to Detroit is more bothersome then DC or TB.

Washington, Detroit and Tampa are playing desperate hockey, while the Leafs seem to still want to run and gun.
The Leafs have to play some serious D if they want to advance, hell just make the playoffs at this point.

With the way management has screwed with him and his head this year, he may become the Leaf version of Ricky Romero.
management or the coach?........I think Bernier is the better goalie.....however, I don't disagree. He was kind of kicked to the corner. Free agency isn't far away for him, and I'm sure he will draw some interest as he will be wanted by somebody and I don't see him resigning here.

One positive in this last road trip was the improved play of Jake Gardiner. He showed the flashes of brilliance offensively that we saw in last year's playoffs. Hope he can continue to build his confidence and be more consistent on both ends.

Lupul on the other hand has struggled. He coughed up the puck a few times and not doing much offensively. The chemistry he had with Kadri last season was great but we're not seeing it this year.

The first home game after the long trip is always tough, so I'm hoping they'll be able to bounce back as a team. Great goaltending is always the key, without which they will not make the playoffs.

I consider coach as part of management.

Somebody will have to give up compensation if they sign Reimer in the off season.

I think it was a " damned if you do and damned if you don't " situation for the coach. I remember early in the season when both Bernier and Reimer were playing about the same number of games, every time the team lost I'd hear fan & meadia criticism that they should stick with one no.1 goalie and use the other in a back up role. Finally they decided to go with Bernier, who most would agree was the better goalie with higher upside. Now that they lost a few games because Reimer could come not up with spectacular performance, we're hearing criticism the other way.

While it is unfair to blame Reimer solely for any of the recent losses, he should not be using that (being used as a backup) as excuses. If not being used as a no 1 affected his performance then he doesn't have that mental toughness to be a no. 1.

What was Lupul doing skating with one hand on his stick in his own end as if no one is around him than losing the puck and not having enough strength to check Stamkos? That is just lax play.

Not looking forward to this game tonight ... oh well you never know when the Leafs will show up and play a great game. Tonight at home to Montreal would be a good time.
Sounds like some of the injured may play tonight .... Bernier, Bolland, Ranger

Wow, after the leafs battle back, red light Reimer gives it right back. Anyone still believe he's starter material...I for one don't!

With this stupid icing rule, defenders must remain, why not CAREFULLY give it to the goalie to freeze.
Defence can then change.

Because then they'd spend a lot of time killing penalties after being called for delay of game.

Mind you, once they're killing a penalty they can ice it all they want.

Deflection off Gleason. Nobody would have stopped that one.
I don't have an issue with that particular goal, but I find it alarming that Reimer seems to give up at least one bad goal a game and always when the game is close and your starting goalie is expected to play big. I still think Reimer is a good goalie, but he's done in Toronto as he can't play under the Toronto media. That's the difference between a money goalie and an OK goalie.

NHL officiating has gone down hill.
JVR interference on Price ? He was pushed, should be no penalty(my opinion).
He made no effort to avoid goalie ... it happened point blank, JVR had no time to react I would say, but go with it.
That was quite the dive from Price on the penalty so even it up. Where did stick end up ? In 905 ?

The too many men ... shit happens. Gardiner's mistake.
Reimer with a couple of softies again.
Bolland is back. Play less then 10 minutes. It will take a couple of games to get into playing shape, but point is he is back. This is when the team will need him.
Two posts by the kids on D, so close.

Well I hope Bernier is back ASAP.

What looked so good last week ...
