Boogie vans with airbrushed paintings on the side and shag rug interiors.
A curtain that opened up at the theater revealing the movie screen before the show started.

The great single-screen movie palaces that were all across Toronto-the best of them was the University on Bloor, but also the Eglinton, Glendale on Avenue Rd., the Willow on Yonge, the Weston, The Alhambra on Yonge, the one beside Maple Leaf Gardens (was that called the Carlton?) and many others.

The winning numbers for a lottery would be announced at the end of an hour long TV 'Variety' special, that had crappy music acts from across Canada, and lame comedy sketches. There was usually some 'fiddle' music from the Maritmes, some guy playing spoons on his knee, (or René Simard, or his sister), from Quebec, someone like Frank ("Music Box Dancer"), Mills for Ontario, a country act for Alberta, and a hippy band from the west coast. The grand prize was like $250,000.

Brick Oven bread. It made the best toast. The loaves were really small. It made the best toast.

Picking your own live chicken in Kensington Market. They would behead and clean it for you, while you waited. The kids could have the chicken feet to play with, but Mom would throw them out after a few days, when they started to stink.

Doug Wright's Family comic strip in The Canadian Magazine, a supplement to the Saturday newspaper.

Major Matt Mason. He was an action figure astronaut. He had a jet pack on his back that slid on black strings, but they always got tied in knots.

Talking dolls with tiny vinyl records inside. One of my sisters had Chatty Cathy.

In the 1970's my friends and I would make snow forts at school and around our apartment complex. I never see kids making forts now a days. Not even a good snowball fight. Man, these kids are really missing out.

Anyone remember basket day when the kids would collect wooden fruit baskets with the deposit fees going back to charity, to be returned to the farmers.

Directly above the center of the earth
When's the last time you phoned someone and got a busy signal or endless ringing instead of voice mail?

And who remembers the stubby? - I'm talking about beer bottles here.
