I remember the golly wog. Don't know how it's spelled ... something like that. I'm almost embarrassed to know what it is. I'm sure they were banned or pulled from store shelves sometime during my youth, cause one day my mother told me it was 'inappropriate' and tossed it in the garbage and they just weren't around anymore. Can't even believe I had this in my toy chest .... good grief.


Hehehe! I was on a family vacay in the UK a couple of years ago and my 3 bratty 20-something nieces found a gollywog at this divey souvenir store in the sticks. They purchased the embarrassing doll, named it "Tayshawn", hung it from the rear view mirror and made rap and drug dealing jokes about it for the rest of the trip. Highly politically incorrect.
