Gose had a shyte season in Buffalo but he's rocking up here (I think he gets bitchy when he's not up here.... but he is good). He can catch too - (think he caught a game last year...) though he is a natural center fielder - maybe the Jays should try him out catching a bit (?).
Anthony Gose has never played an inning of defence at catcher, either in the minors or in MLB.

Is it possible you were thinking of Yan Gomes?

I think Cabrera's finished as a productive player. Would keep Lind any day over him. In fact I'd keep Lind period. He hits both righties and lefties. Defence isn't bad and can also play outfield if needed.

Cabrera finished? Much too early to tell...

Lind play the outfield? You gotta be kidding, right?

My thinking is that if either Gose or Sierra can make the team, then Cabrera becomes the (more or less full time) DH and Lind is expendable.

And Lind plus one of the better bullpen arms (and the BJ's are rich in that department right now) should fetch a pretty good SP... not an Ace, but a good #2 or #3. If so, Dickey could be traded for an Ace unless the BJ's brass think that he can and will do much better next year.

Much to my disappointment, I think Davis will find more playing time and money elsewhere as a free agent, so he is gone... especially if Gose can make the team.

And I also think Goins will stick... unless his bat freezes, which I doubt: his defence is just too good. But, then, Rasmus will have to hit for average and power, as he was expected to do as a 5 tool player.

Also, I am wondering who the BJ's are getting for Bonifacio... or the deal with the Royals could be sweetened to give the BJ's another good SP. I would add Dickey to the package to get Shields. Dickey would do very well in KC, m'thinks.

BTW, Bonifacio is doing well in KC: batting .302, OPS .753 and 14 stolen bases in 32 games and just 116 AB's... I still think he is a gamer and did not get a fair chance here.

Pretty apparent. Along with the rest of the team, he had a rough April and got benched and then got caught in a numbers game for playing time. His last couple of weeks, he was showcased and got playing time and appeared a lot more relaxed and successful.

Where do you think he started his big league career? Same question was asked when he moved to first i.e. "You gotta be kidding". Check his fielding record as an outfielder, its excellent. He played there for about 4 years.

There was a reason he was moved from the outfield...

And no, not too many people thought he'd be able to play first. But the question about him has always been whether he could do with consistency what he did in 2009.... and for that, look at the stats: sporadically but not consistently.

He may not have many errors, but the ball better be hit right at him. He has the fielding range of a slug.

Look, I'm not for a minute suggesting he be shifted to the outfield, merely pointing out he could be used in a pinch. With all the outfielders they have why would they use him but in an emergency. I think him and EE make a pretty good DH/1st base combo actually.

I would consider trading, as good as he's been, Janssen. Santos has been great since returning and he's more of a classic closer, i.e. a power pitcher. I didn't look up parameters such as age (I think SS is younger) and contract details such as salary and years 'til free agency. He would also fetch the biggest bang for the team's buck in what they get back. Lots of teams looking for a "proven(?)" closer. I have a hunch his hot streak may be ending.

He got lots of chances. Even if he wasn't given enough chances he looked absolutely atrocious in so many of the chances he was given. Running errors, fielding errors, anemic bat. Not just below average but embarrassingly bad.

Based on what he showed here I am flabbergasted with the numbers he is putting up in KC. It's a different player. Actually, I shouldn't be surprised that a player comes to Toronto (in any sport) from another organization and has the worst year(s) of his career. It seems to happen all too frequently.

So the point of your point is that there is point to it?

Now EE is done for the rest of the season, will have wrist surgery and Cecil also done for the remainder of the season. Ya this years almost done but what else can go wrong? These guys are falling apart at the seams.

I see you get the point!!!
Well done, sir! :thumb:

But it turns out that I fucked up and left a word out. I meant to say the point of your point is that there is no point to it!

Who's on first? :biggrin1:

When asked about the team's chances during spring training, Jose Bautista responded, "I don't see what can go wrong." Famous last words, indeed.

Rogers and Redmond have about the same ERA as those two. Happ is the poorest in the current line-up with 5.15.

That 5.44 has been inflated by the earlier very poor contributions of Morrow (5.63), Ortiz (6.04), Johnson (6.20), Wang (7.67) and Romero (9.95).
