The most significant improvement the Jays could make is to get an experienced and competent catcher. How many more wins they would have had if say Yadier Molina was the regular catcher? I think they made a big mistake trading John Buck to the Mets. They likely did it to secure the RA Dickey deal because they wanted Thole along with him. AA can take credit for that blunder.

I too was disappointed when they sent Buck to the Mets as he sure played well here previously. His salary may have played a part in the trade too as it was pretty high.
I see the Pirates picked up as a back up to Martin for the playoff run.
I also agree with you that they need a competent catcher if they want to compete. As I mentioned previously if they decide to go J P and Thole they best have a catching coach/tutor on permanent staff.

so now if an experienced manager like Mike Scioscia (sp) who has won world series becomes available, were stuck with Gibbons. Really fired up the team tonight to know Gibbons will be back.

AA has decided that he rather be with someone who he knows and gets along with. In this case it is the 'yes' man in Gibbons. There are a number of reports originated out of LA that Scioscia is not getting along with his GM for several years on the job. And, AA would be interested to bring Scioscia here? Doubt it. Next year,these same two guys will gamble that the players would return the favour by playing a much different game for them comapared to shits they're playing today.

Expect the jays to be cellar dwellers for at least 2 more years. The rest of the teams in their division are far superior and will only get better, with the Yankees a possible exception. But I would never bet against them. Huge rebuilding job ahead of them. Remember the Orioles and how pathetic they were for years...not anymore. Just heard Aaron Hill's name on the game. Another blunder getting rid of him. He's hit over .300 each year at Arizona.

But me likey the thought of an infield with Lawrie, Reyes, Goins, and EE.

That's some rock solid defense and pretty decent hitting.

Outfield of Gose, Rasmus, and Bautista not bad either. Depends on if you think Colby is coming into his hitting years now(arm is weak) and worth the arbritration money.

Let Melky DH. If he does well keep him, if not lose him.

And oh yes we need a catcher. Big time. Huge time. But I think Arencebia is here to stay with Thole so I hope he at least works on calling the game better.

Won't even get into the starting pitching......that is just a nightmare!

That was funny. He hesitated before he took off for first like he didn't know what to do.

I think that losing the series(and Cano) really hurts any chance the Yanks may have had of getting a wild card.

In effect you get him as a player for 5 million. My guess is that at a salary of 7 million he is still trade-able.

Bit of a game of Tetris......Gose is ready to come up. Lind is 7 million, Melky is 8 million. Really only need one.....who is the better trade bait.

And what's it going to cost for Colby? Or more importantly is he at his age about to come into his "hot" production years and is worth a contract?

I like Goins but want to see how he does for next month and especially when he faces Yankee pitching for the second time....see if he has a weak spot or not. The D is solid though.

Personally I would take Lind over Melky. He's younger, has no known baggage, is less expensive and has more power. I think you exercise the option on Lind because @ $7 million he is still trade-able if you find a better bat.
Goins looks real promising but he hasn't been around long enough for teams to get a book on him. Lets hope he continues but things can change once pitchers know his tendencies and weaknesses.
Colby has had a good year until he got hurt. My own feelings are trade him because he should bring back something real good. He will be looking for big bucks with the numbers he put up and Gose is as ready as he is ever going to be to fill that spot.

Damn I gotta reprimand my research people, however, please note Melky is Dominican and their birth dates are not always, shall we say accurate.LOL
The way Melky played this year I "thought" he was at least a couple of years older than Lind. I would still keep Lind ahead of him. We know Lind can play first and we know MelkyS days in the outfield are numbered.
