The manager that had the most success with the Blue Jays was Cito, you could fall asleep at his press conferences.
How do you motivate millionaires? These aren't kids trying to impress someone. These are overpaid adults that have to want to win.
This team has a few character guys that bust their butts and show it.
I already said I'm not a Gibbons fan I just don't see anyone out there at the moment that would do a better job. I'm sure the media
will come up with names that deserve consideration but to date there hasn't been a name mentioned that IMHO is any better Gibbons.
Id rather have Gibby than any other manager right now.
What difference would it make if he was high strung? If he sat up straight during press conferences would people like him more?
I used to be a retail manager (different world I know).. but I was pretty good. I was very good at recognizong my employees and could get my mostly university students to show up at 6am any time I needed them because I recognized their efforts in a genuine way... and they did anything I asked them to..... inspiring and encouraging people does not always require showmanship.
Being real to who one is is more effective.
I have no doubt that he leads.... and i have no doubt that he leads in a way that is not for our viewing pleasure.
I don't know wy I trust him but I really do. I guess I relate to his style....
If he threw bases around while arguing with umps, would people think he cared more?
Do we really want that?
The manager is one of many coaches... a leader but really- not responsible for the 2013 jays results.
I value loyalty... I dont know how he could have impacted this team differently ...
We have more than one coach.
Telling our players the obvious will make no impact. Micromanaging is not a positive managerial trait.
I like Gibby- I chose loyalty over a big mouth.
I hate that so many people question him.
This season is not his fault.
