Many of baseball's rules are predicated on where the ball is when it actually touches the ground or passes a certain point. Balls that have not actually yet landed in the field of play are judged by where they first hit the ground, a wall or a player. There are some strange rules but they are quite clear. If a ball passes a bases in the air above fair territory but lands in foul territory it is a foul ball. If a ball passes the outfield wall in the air above fair territory but lands in the seats in foul territory it is a fair ball. Doesn't make sense in some ways, but it is very clear in the rules.
In hockey a goal doesn't have to land in the net, it just has to break the plane of the goal line. In baseball the ball has to land in the seats. Strangely enough, if a ball hits a player in the field of play and bounces directly over the fence in fair territory it is a homerun. Again, a strange rule but clearly stated in the rulebook.

No. I have never heard of the Canseco rule. Canseco had a ball bounce off his head over the fence and the rule was applied, but the rule had been around well before Canseco was.

True. The likelihood of a ball striking a baserunner and bouncing over the fence in fair territory is unlikely enough that it probably eliminated the necessity to mention that it needed to be a defensive player.

Trading Derosa would be a bad move. This guy is a great team player. They have a option for him next year at 750,000. Not bad for a good bench guy like that. Considering the buyout woild be 250,000. He would be a bargain.

I still say they should have traded Jansen. Coulld have gotten good value for him and I have a feeling he is on the downside now.

I agree you don't want to give DeRosa away, he was brought in as a mentor and is probably the most reliable bat off the bench. To trade him you would have to get a decent piece in return.
Jansen I would hate to see traded. He has done a good job as both the closer and as a set up man. Santos appears too fragile to be reliable and Delabar appears best suited as a 1 inning set up or put out the fire type.
I'm still surprised Oliver wasn't sent to a contender.

Bautista, bad chemistry? WTF! I suspect you've had some bad chemistry lately. He's demonstrative at times, yet when was the last time you saw him approached, let alone chewed out by the coaches.He has been the face of the offence for the past three seasons, team mates listen to him, and has a cannon for an arm that few will challenge from the outfield.

Agree they are not playing well as a team but as far as unified I believe they have been pulling for each other all season. That would be a good explanation for not hearing of any situations.

With Josh Johnson gone after this year, should the Jays take a chance and bring back Doc Halliday? He's a free agent at end of season. He would unify this team.

I don't see Halliday as a unifier either. His best days are behind him. Doesn't make financial sense either.
Jays will have to find starters somewhere, Roger and Happ aren't the answer. and the guys rehabbing are very suspect.

It's not only pitching, but fundamental chemistry issues...
Requiring a either a massive shakeup or a 3 year Farm System rebuild.
