Then you wise beyond your years..... I'm in my early-30s but I know what Broadbent and Douglas did for our country.
I don't think age determines one's opinions on politics nor determines one's awareness....

The issue with Harper is his attempts to make election financing 'secret', payments from the PMO's office 'secrets', details on F-35 'secret' while making it illegal for protesters to make their presence 'secret' by wearing masks. What's the point of having a "secret service" if it's not secret? certain information should always be secret and classified, all of these "right to know everything" groups don't get it. If the government has no way of keeping certain info secret then we are sitting ducks for our enemies. As far as Trudeau goes, I certainly don't want a leader who only has a last name going for him. He's accomplished absolutely nothing as a politician. Harper shouldn't fret too much, Trudeau has already started burying himself with his comments on Quebec and the senate and taking cash from charities for speeches etc. Not to mention he has no platform on which to campaign with. What kind of government would he lead? We don't know because he won't tell us.
I happen to agree with you on all of your points. I prefer a PC federal government but at the same time I think Harper has strayed quite a bit on issues like open and transparent government. The issue with Harper is his attempts to make election financing 'secret', payments from the PMO's office 'secrets', details on F-35 'secret' while making it illegal for protesters to make their presence 'secret' by wearing masks.
I like your attitude, even if I don't support PC's in general.I happen to agree with you on all of your points. I prefer a PC federal government but at the same time I think Harper has strayed quite a bit on issues like open and transparent government.
I prefer a PC fed government too, but sadly the PC's died a long time ago and the reform party (neocons) took over. The Conservatives today have no true conservative values. John Diefenbaker (Harper's hero) would be rolling in his grave.I happen to agree with you on all of your points. Preston Manning had comment earlier last week that the Conservatives have abandoned many of their Reform Party basics. They are neither PC or Reform, but are the Harper Party.I prefer a PC fed government too, but sadly the PC's died a long time ago and the reform party (neocons) took over. Had Harper campaigned on the neocon agenda he's trying to implement, instead of the vaguer, pretend red tory plan, he wouldn't be in power right now.Preston Manning had comment earlier last week that the Conservatives have abandoned many of their Reform Party basics. They are neither PC or Reform, but are the Harper Party.
That's nothing more than Preston Manning trying to distance himself from a scandal plagued, increasingly disliked Government. He's abandoning a sinking ship. But Harper = reform partyPreston Manning had comment earlier last week that the Conservatives have abandoned many of their Reform Party basics. Let's not get carried away Jenn. Tommy Douglas ? Yes. He did have a major role in the establishment of Medicare and had many accomplishments in Saskatchewan . Broadbent....not so much. He was never in a position to actually "do" anything for the country. Similarly to Layton, just being a party leader or a backbencher Broadbent was never in a position to do much other than talk when people were willing to listen..... I'm in my early-30s but I know what Broadbent and Douglas did for our country.
.
Gee, who knew you respected Preston's opinion so highly ?Preston Manning had comment earlier last week that the Conservatives have abandoned many of their Reform Party basics. They are neither PC or Reform, but are the Harper Party.
Apparently you don't know me as well as you think you do.Gee, who knew you respected Preston's opinion so highly ?
You don't know Manning very well. The Conservatives of today aren't anywhere near what they were before Harper left the mail room, not when he became the leader of the opposition. Just ask Peter McKay.That's nothing more than Preston Manning trying to distance himself from a scandal plagued, increasingly disliked Government. He's abandoning a sinking ship. But Harper = reform party
That is very definitely by choice....Apparently you don't know me as well as you think you do.
The biggest glaring difference is Senate reform. The Conservatives have been in power for how long and done sfa in that area other than putting more conservative asses in the seats. That is very definitely by choice....
Perhaps you could outline the differences between the platforms of the old Reform Party and the current Conservatives ? Or is this just about the current leader that I thought you loved so dearly.
