Visitors to Toronto!

Got some relatives coming to Toronto for the first time, then onto Niagara.

Will have an afternoon evening to 'show them around'

Does anyone have some good ideas to entertain a 55 yr old couple with.

Try going to one of the musicals downtown..or the double decker tour bus ride ...around the city

If they like to walk, Toronto island. CN tower, Rom if they are into museums. harbour castle hotel has a nice re loving restaurant

If they are from outside Canada and are interested in wildlife, the Toronto Zoo, which at one point (and I phrase it that way merely because I don't know at present) was listed among the top in the world.

If interested in history, Fort York.

Are you just responsible for just the Toronto phase or the Niagara phase as well?

I agree with the panorama lounge. That put you in the heart of yorkville. Several great restaurants there to and its a nice area to walk in. The CN tower is kind of iconic. The ROM is also yorkville based. And casa loma not that far either.

King St. would be better.

Casa Loma is cool for visitors as well, even as a drive-around, especially as a contrast to downtown. City Hall still looks pretty good.

Drive out to the Beaches, park the car at one end or the other. Walk some or most of the boardwalk, then walk some or most of Queen St. It's a great neighborhood, that has nothing to do with downtown. Lots of cafes. lots of people-watching, and a gorgeous lakefront.

king st west is no place to take them for dinner at 55 (too many drunken kiddies running around) - unless its Buca (expensive Italian) . There are a lot of cool new gastro pubs on dundas west of ossington.

You're right near trinity bellwoods park if the weather is nice for a walk. Queen street from Bathurst west towards the park is good for shopping, plenty of spots old people might like. The AGO is amazing, if they are into it.

If they are into museums, bring them to the ROM. If that is too much walking, check out Campbell House downtown. It's the oldest surviving building in the original site of York. If I recall correctly, it has amazing grounds in the summer. A beautiful green space in the heart of the city. I haven't been there in the summer since I was a teen, but I was there this February for a Winterlicious event. One of the lower level rooms is an art gallery as well.

Take them to Greektown. They'll love it. Dine at Astoria and spend the rest of the night wandering about.

Why the fuck would you take someone to Toronto island? I've been there many times, but seriously I don't see the fascination. What is there to do on the island that you can't do other places on the mainland? A few beaches, lots of people with dogs, and canada goose shit everywhere. I suppose it was ok as a child, but now I can't be bothered. By the time you get down there, wait for the ferry, fight the crowds and finally get there, you could have driven somewhere much nicer and quieter. Why not take them down the Leslie spit into Tommy THompson park and see all those dirty Cormorant nests and the disgusting mess they make as well?

CN Tower is my recommendation. Tickets to a show is another great idea, as most people from other cities don't really get to see to many of them. If the Jays or TFC are in town, that's another idea if they are sports fans.

When in Niagara, show them the falls, but DO NOT dine in Niagara Falls, nor take a hotel in Niagara Falls
The restaurants are terrible, as everyone knows they will getting more tourists who will likely never come back

Take them to Niagara -on -the-Lake.
Good restaurants, and lots f wineries close by, there is a Fort (if they like history) and ...
If they are young at heart, there is Jet-Boat tour up the Niagara river which is really cool
You will get soaked right through to the undies, but it is really cool
