As if we haven't heard of other low lifes winning the lottery and having nothing to show for it.

This Hamilton woman won $10.5 Million and pissed it all away on things like a Cadillac Escalade with turntables and gull wing doors.

Gotta respect her though for going back to work to feed the 9 kids between her and five men.

I'd probably too, but somehow people like us don't run into big money.

One has to be both very unlucky and very stupid to blow through that kind of cash

Smart people avoid bad luck

smart people are just not generous enough to take their friends to Vegas and Caribbean, all expenses paid
nothing to do with bad luck

lol "The Tirabassis worry about people knowing where they live. The win didn’t make them a lot of friends and they fear being robbed. "

with the souped up Cadillac Escalade, with gullwing doors, turntables and blasting hip hop music everytime you're in the neighbourhood and BabiPhat as the license plate? ummmm duhhh!

easy come, easy go... I bet many Terbites who win like her would probably end up like her too xDD its too easy to rent out an entire upscale agency for the night you know ;) do it often and you wouldn't even realize you're going broke soon haha

with this money you can move to somewhere like Odessa, Ukraine and open a model agency. The problem is you will hardly ever be able to fuck anyone looking worse than 19yo EE models.

well, like she herself says, she's used to a certain life. This is why some of us can never be on welfare and some will always be on welfare. It's a person's environment that moulds them.

this woman is married to a convict. that's how much judgement she has in terms of her selection of a life partner. why are you folks surprised that she's blown through 10M? What was she gonna do? Invest it in a RRSP, open up a trust and save for a rainy day? I'd be SHOCKED if she hadn't bought that BABIPHAT ozone blaster!

10 mil is a shit load of dough but anyone can go through that easily. You still have to make wise decisions. It's life changing money but that doesn't mean you have to change your life that much.

Smart people don't buy lottery tickets. So of course there's going to be a disproportionate number of idiots among the winners. Lottery tickets are a tax on people who can't do math.

well...I wonder she would have hired any money manager to help her invest some for future.
There is another story of a teacher from Markham, who relied on banks to be his money management and is living happily.

Agreed. If I were so lucky to win a jackpot. I would:
retain a lawyer,
retain an accountant,
think tank in St Barts or a Ritz-Carlton resort.

Take it from there.

It amazes me that some people actually think they can retire on 10 million. If you live in toronto and your house is paid off you probably are worth 2-3 million. Why not retire now then? With today's rates on investments even retiree's can piss through a million bucks just surviving in adult assisted homes. Smart people just keep working no matter what the circumstances..if you love doing what you do, then you never think of it as work and you will never need for money because it will come with the work. As people say "it is easier to loose money than it is to make it" but I can bet if you had made the 10 mil yourself you would spend it with a little more caution. This is the reason these people loose it...because they never made it in the first place.

You are kidding me right? Do you talk like this to be a big shot or a wannabe? Most people are lucky to accumulate 1 million before they die. 10 million is a pipe dream from most. If you can't retire on 10 million you either have a $10,000 a day coke addiction or you are feeding a small country in Africa. I know people who retired comfortably on fraction of 10 million.
no I am talking to be a big shot...I just know that if you actually took a good look at what assisted living costs these days you would have a heart attack...1 million dollars is not enough to retire unless your house is paid off and you can take care of yourself until the day you drop..and if you can then you are one of the few...most people in canada pay on average 4 thousand a month for assisted living...and that is just the minimum cost. If you think that you can retire with a million dollars today then you are kidding yourself.
