Please read my post, I did not say the players the Jays got in the trade were not "good players".
I read it properly the first time.

How does adding 3 guys from one of the worst teams in Baseball make you a championship contender?
If you knew the Jays were getting good players, or even the concept that bad teams have good players, then it makes no sense why you would ask the original question.

Will the Jays still play all their weekend games during the day in 2013:mad:?
Probably mostly, although some start at 4:00.

Why are you flaming mad?

You're right, the Jays got 3 good players, they are a championship team. What was I thinking?

Exactly. And proof of that is Vegas has installed the Jays as favourites to win the World Series.

That doesn't make them the champs but it just means they are considered to have the best chance.

And did you hear that they also picked up the NL Cy Young winner and another good hitter from other teams beside Miami?

If you did, then your question about what makes them championship contenders makes even less sense.

Fuck me, if Vegas says Jays are the favorite who am I to argue. We all know that the favorite in January to win the World Series always wins.

We finally agree.

Why are you talking about champions now. Read your own post. Your question was about what makes them contenders, not champions.

As I said before, being the Vegas favourite means you are a contender.

Again, if you are so knowledgable, why did you ask the original question?

You're right shack, I don't know what I'm talking about. The Blue Jays should be the favorites. I have no knowledge of baseball to base my opinion on.

Oh, btw, can we catch up on this subject in September?

Melky has me worried. I hope he is a player and not a distraction.
Isn't the media making him a distraction and not him .. He did the crime and was suspended ... Story closed ... Come to new team and media wants to bring up
old garbage .

Yes Melky wants it to go away but the media needs stories and some of you read them.

holy fuck....anyone see the line up around the Rogers Centre this morning?
seems to be a lot of pre-season hype over the Jays......lots of bandwagon riders.....wonder how long it will take before the emergency rooms will be flooded with people complaining of ankle injuries? from jumping off the bandwagon:confused:

I have this vision of thumper running after the bandwagon in June sometime, yelling "Hey, wait for me...."

because its all hype.....
anything to do with predictions or analysis..if any of it were true...then just hand the Blue Jays the trophy now.!..why bother with the season at all....
I have never accepted any of these clowns that predict winners based on what they see on paper..Thats why they play the game...cus the prognosticators are rarely right....
1 season ending injury to a everyday player...or a few players go in the tank for a month or two.....and boom there goes the season.....

T/O sports fans are in dire need of something to cheer for... the Raptors are...trying..are they too far behind to make it to the show(playoffs)...the leafs..well we all know their history....Argos ...was last year an Anomoly? we shall see....Rock ..TFC..jury is out so far....so the Blue Jays made wholesale changes...good for them...Lets see how they respond to their new Coach...and now ....the Odds makers have pegged them to win it all......gee ...no pressure there....right?
The trades they made..have given them the opportunity to succeed....its not a given they will.....
do you think NY or Boston are gonna idly sit by and let T/O just run away with the division....too much ego and too much money... wont allow it

lets revisit this thread after the all star break....

Thumper it is nice to see the enthusiasm the Jays have generated to date. You are right in saying the game is not played on paper but from my point of view I believe, barring injuries, the Jays will be competitive and very entertaining. I don't live in the GTA but usually make a game or 2, this year we will go to a few games including the Friday night game when whats his name returns with his Red Sox. Yes Toronto sports needs a winner and this is the best opportunity they have had in a number of years. Instead of pissing on the parade get on the bandwagon now, not in October.
