So a couple of weeks ago I saw this independent SP who advertises here on TERB and I felt that I have been somewhat been ripped off. I am a gentleman and I will not mention this SP's name not because it is against TERB policy but because I do understand that one negative publicity such as this will cause her some business and I am not the asshole to do just that. I will be very fair and decent in this criticism.

So here is what happens:

The night before our encounter, I head to my local bank to withdraw cash for her hourly donation ($250). My maximum daily withdrawal from my bank is $200. I withdrew it, put it in an envelope, and when I got home, I am quite sure I put in an extra 3 $20 bills so that makes it $260. Immediately when I got to her room, I hand her the envelope on the table and hopped on the shower. A minute later she goes knocking on the door saying I only gave her $220. I count money for a living and I am quite sure I didn't put only 1 $20 on that envelope with already $200 on it. Now, I do realize the possibility that I could have been mistaken so I guess the purpose of this is just to warn "Johns" of similar tactics such as this one. To you "Johns" out there I give you this information so you can decide in the future how to protect yourself. Either both of you put the money on the table and count it before your very eyes, or you can give 2 $100 bills and 1 $50 just to minimize the possibility of this happening to you. Either way, this is just a heads up to fellow hobbyists.

Secondly, we agreed on our meeting to be, say, 3 P.M. I texted her 10 minutes early that I was in the area and was asking for my room number. She said she needed some more time getting ready so I said OK no problem. She replies exactly at 3 P.M. and then I head to her room. I walked and took me 10 minutes to head to her room. After we have done the deed, her alarms rings at exactly 4 P.M. I've always thought that the time starts when you get into her room and not at the original slotted time especially that it was her lateness and needing more time to get ready that we weren't able to start at exactly 3 P.M. I am a decent guy and although I have my suspicions then and there, I am not one to make a big fuss about this and ruin your day.

So to the SP, you might have gotten my $250 or $300 for this matter but I will never book you again. Although, it is still a huge amount, I hope you realize that it is more beneficial to you to provide the upmost in customer service because if you do, I would have kept coming back. Thanks for reading.

I get around.
So you never actually counted the money in the envelope all at once? Seems sloppy work for someone who counts money for a living. I don't see why an SP who's paying for ad space here would be so unprofessional and lie about being shortchanged.
And it seems like a lot of guys get hung up on minutes.
After we have done the deed, her alarms rings at exactly 4 P.M.
Since you'd already done the deed, I don't understand what are you complaining about.

Hey do you know how to read?

I said I withdrew my banks maximum daily limit which is $200 put it an envelope and put 3 $20 more when I got home.
I am not complaining. I am just sharing tips and experiences to other Johns.

So you never counted all the bills at once, and then put that counted amount in the envelope. That seems sloppy to me. And you even had an extra 10 minutes waiting around when you could have double-checked the count.

Was it 250 or 260, seems like you're still not sure of the amount.

Similar story from a TERBIE in Ottawa last year except the SP called him 3 days later to say the envelope was $500 (more of less) short so he wired her the extra money and felt he had been played for a fool.

Hey MattRoxx, you don't know how to read don't you so I'm gonna explain it to you one more time. I withdrew from my bank $200. Counted the money at the machine put it in an envelope ($200). When I got home, I put it 3 more $20 bills. $200+60=$260. Pretty simple isn't it or do you need more clarifications??? Although her rate was only $250, the $10 was just an extra gesture from me.

Rockslinger, funny the SP told me she is from that area. Maybe the same SP...

yea not counting the bills at once seems like a rookie move. especially since it took 2 days to get the loot together and especially since you deal with money. cash is too liquid to be doing some shit like that.

thats what im saying. good thing you didnt put this poor dame on front street for your lack of attn to detail.

No, that particular SP was in Ottawa on tour. Is it possible that she might be the same person? Try to find that older thread if possible. (I gave up on the TERB search function after one of the upgrades.)

would have been real easy to hand over the envelope to the SP and say, "here's your envelope, do ya mind counting it to make sure it's ok?"

Not 2 days, it was more like a couple of hours. I clearly withdrew and counted $200 and put 3 $20 bills on that envelope. I precounted it again before I went to sleep. I lock my door and nobody touches my personal belongings in my house whatsoever. I know that $260 would still be $260 no matter if its 2 days or 10 years. Pretty easy to count money.

I have hobbied many many times before and I have always left it to the girl to be decent. I don't do that because it makes things awkward. This is the first that that it has happened to me hence the warning post above for all the other hobbyists to be aware of this tactic.

Lurker, you should share with the board who this SP is. This is a review board - imagine doing a review without a name?

This happened to me as well a couple of years ago. Donation was 300 and I put 6 reds in the envelope. Came out of the shower and SP said I was 50 short. In a split second, I realized my two choices: 1) Argue with her and get nothing out of it or 2) pay her an extra 50 and suck it up. I did the latter and ended up having a good session. Of course, I did not leave her any tips.

Yeah, we can't mention names here on TERB. I actually thought of shooting the SP a PM here but I don't think it would get anywhere. Which is kinda the purpose of why I made this thread so hobbyists are aware of this tactics and make their own appropriate adjustments. I just think this sucks and really dampened my mood for the day.

its a good warning for all us terbites that there are some tiny % of dishonest SPs out there and vice versa (dishonest johnnys).

I also hated when the agreed time is shorten by lots. I never ever repeat if this happens.

She should be outed. If for no other reason, for using an alarm clock to signal the end of a session. That's objective and valuable info that a hobbyist should know going into a session.
