Heck she got one rich dude, she could get another one if need be.

Hell, she likely could get Tiger back if she wanted, ha ha

............................

She could be making money with her money as well by investing.

yeah its dumb but she wants to out do all her neighbors, she is showing off. She was made a jackass by Tiger and i guess this is her way of laughing back at the world

There are several cases like this that I am aware off - as said it depends upon a number of factors but it may well be a sensible decision.

If money is no object then you buy the land you want and build the house you want.

Being filthy rich means you can have everything how you like it to be.

Sure it be great to tear down every house over 5--10 years old and build brand new--forget installing new windows in the old walls, build it all brand new.

Yeah its wasteful, she has too much money. In Sweden they would tax the F out of her and help out the rest of the people. Where do you think that tax money trickles down to ? Sure the public roads need some help, let her help build them, IMO

A lot of narrow minded people on this board. Demolishing of homes sitting on multi million dollar properties happens every day in all parts of the world. Look in your own back yard of Toronto, it happens all the time. I'm surprised, actually shocked, that some of you have not noticed this in TO and think it's a waste of money, actually in virtually all cases they do it to make money. Bridlepath, Forst Hill, Rosedale, Kingsway, Hoggs Hollow, etc....., happens each day in these areas. People with this kind of money can afford to knock a home down and build whatever they wish because they really like the location of the land.
I'm well aware that this happens a lot. I actually have a friend who live on the Bridle path and I've seen first hand what people do. I also agree that people can do what ever they want with there money. It's there money, right? They earned it (hard work, inheritance or hooker-ed themselves out). But, I have to right to feel discussed that someone would "waste money" in such a manner. And I think the general public would feel the same way (More so in the US). Especially when you have high unemployment rates across the board. People foreclosing their house's. People struggling to provide the basics for there families.
Imagine you have someone who's been struggling to find work for the past 2 + years with no luck (Many cases like this). How do you think that person would feel after hearing such a story?

Those out of work people should hope that more mansions are torn down and then, here's the kicker, get off their asses, find the contractors and apply for some of those jobs.

Oh yeah that's right, these people are just sitting on their asses not doing anything....... Listen, these people will take anything they can get. They'll take a Job at McDonald. What ever it takes to put food on the table. BTW I don't know if you've noticed but the job market isn't exactly booming.

Sounds like the 100,000 "illegal" Russian construction workers doing the hard work that no self-respecting Canadian would do.

Actually, I think that they'd be pretty happy.

If she just moved in, what, she'd need a gardiner and maybe a part time handy man and couple of maids.

Now she's going to need architects, engineers, CAD operators, and a full construction team.

She's contributing the economy. So god bless her.

Is your point that she should just bank her money and sit on it making the recession that much worse?

Thats a great point.

In fact why not have a new tax on savings ? Anything say over $1 million gets tax each year. 1 million gets a 5% tax each year. After 10 million tax goes up to 10% after 100 million tax is say 20%

This way the fat cats be more incline to spend their money then accumulate wealth.

People need 100 million or more as much as I need 100 women a week--be freaken great but get real

Even if you confiscate the assests of everyone in the top five percent, you still have the poor and now you have no one to invest capital. Look at the realities of the former Soviet state Thomas Hobbes' famous quotation about life being "Nasty, brutish and short" applies quite well to the vast majority of peoples lives there between 1918 and 1991.

Probably true. There aren't enough rich people to tax/redistribute their wealth to eradicate poverty.

Also, as Abraham Lincoln said, 'You can't help the poor man by destroying the rich' (or words to that effect).

If she were to just bank it, the banks would use that to lend to others who would buy homes, or build gleaming towers, etc. etc. etc.

I don't believe in wealth taxes.

NO, kono and yoyoface want the rich to just give away their money to the poor,so that the poor have the choice on how to spend it. They are making judgements on how you can use your own funds. F'n communists.

You could take away every penny "the rich" have and in 2 years they'd have it all back. (At least the ones who made it themselves, not the "PHD" (Pappa has Dough) crowd.

I agree that it's her money and she's free to do whatever she wants with it.

But, here are the (grander, social) issues I have:

1. The "jobs" she's creating are service sector jobs (same as the other rich who make such lavish purchases).

If she bought a company that performs energy research, or medical research, or something that advances technology, that's different.

2. What did she do to earn that money? Heckuva role model for the younger folk.

^^^ Not entirely true.

The house will require a huge amount of material - everything from concrete to Canadian timber, to drywall, to wires, to pipes, etc. etc. These would not be "service jobs"

In North America there are 4 primary industries that I can see.

1. Housing
2. Farming
3. Mining and Resources
4. Automobile

If any ONE of them is sick, the entire economy is sick.

Don't forget about health care.

The automobile is another waste. Why can't cars last longer and people hang on to them longer?

Its like half the point in working is to drive to and from work and wear your car out so you buy another car.

Instead of knocking down the building why not donate it off ? Well yeah Tigers pad would be all over eby

Oh well, if you ever feel guilty in life cause your having so much fun, just think of the Woods, lol
