Get this, tiger wood's wife buy's a 12 million dollar house just so she can bulldoze it to the ground. Just because you get 100 mill from the settlement doesn't mean you have to be a fucking idiot with the money. You have people who can barely make rent/mortgage payments and she basically burns 12 mill like it's nothing... Fucked up. At this rate she'll be broke by year's end.

Nothing is wrong with her, from what I read in the article, and see on the news.
She has the money, it's hers to spend how she sees fit.

Some idiot eh? Spends a shit load of money to rebuild providing jobs ,manufacturing, larger tax base. Faster turnover= more jobs and more tax revenues. It's called the economy and the more often these 'idiots' spend,(especially with non borrowed funds), the more likely those having a hard time will benefit.
If the US had any cash they would try the same thing. Oh yeah, they have tried, expect they need to borrow the cash 1st.
NOT THE SAME THING.

Never mind, the daily interest in $100 Million, ahhh yeah that alot of dough

$12 million is chump change, plus the new mansion in its place will be worth 5 times if not more

Its hers to do what she wants with it. Geez, people are talking like she's the only wealthy person who has wasted money on silliness.
Rich people level houses all the time to build another one. I'm no financial whiz but I'd bet with interest she collects on 100mil she can blow up a house every few years, build another one and not touch the initial investment.lol

Now, if she was to start hanging with Charlie Sheen then yea, the money will be done in no time.lol.

In fairness to her - the lot itself would be worth several million so the figure is overstated. Also we do not know what the construction of the building was like. Was there water or salt damage? She may want extra security and other features that may have made starting over much easier. Also some houses in the south are requiring to be raised 1 to 2 feet due to flooding. The decision to tear down the house could in fact have been sensible.

First of all I highly doubt she had that in mind. Secondly, why couldn't she have just bought a nice piece of lake front property and build a house on that? Isn't that the more sane approach. That way everyone wins. You create jobs for hard working Americans and she makes money on the house once it's built (double - triple in value). So yes she's an idiot...
The silver lining to this whole thing is, when she crashes and burn's people will benefit from her poor money management decisions.

@ Linds - She won't be making much profit if any off this new house. Let's say the house was worth 8 - 10 Million. The land was worth 2 - 4 Million. So before she even starts, she's 8 - 10 million in the hole. Let's say the new house is 8 Million. If you add everything up you've got 20 Million.
She probably wouldn't make much if anything. Also, don't forget the people building her house will charge her more because they know rich people will pay.
It's the same reason why a woman will buy a pair of panties for 1,200 USD. They have no concept of value which makes them suckers.

Bottom line, she intends to demolish what would be a mansion by any description. Disgusting on more levels than I feel interested to list.

12 million is a lot, more then 10% of her 100 million she got from the divorce.

It's no chump change.

While I don't know any woman insane enough to buy a pair of panties for $1,200, I do know a couple of people who have forgotten or never knew the value a bit of extra change can be for someone who isn't so well-off. Whether they hit it big by being left a huge inheritance, by lucking into (aka, they know a guy) an exorbitant-paying job, or through honest, hardworking labor...once the money is their's, they forget what it's like to be the little guy. While I can respect the guy who made his windfall the hard way and his right to do with that money as he pleases, the other two options garner a little more contempt. I believe Miss Nordegren falls into that category as well.

It's been good to know ya
Looking at the size of the house in the first picture I am wondering if it is even the same property shown in the bottom picture.

Not sure about panties, but I know dancers who have paid $800 for a pair of shoes. Wear it 3 times and then buy a new pair.

She's got a 100 million. So she spent 12. Even if she spends another 20 building the place, she's still got 68 million dollars.

Besides, putting your money in real estate at quite probably the bottom of the market is not a stupid thing to do.

Lots of people in Toronto buy a house for 750 grand or more in my neighbourhood, then tear it down and rebuild. Sometimes, rebuilding makes a lot more sense than renovating.

Maybe, but I believe this discussion was about supposedly rational people.

The most retarded economics argument ever !

She could give the $$$$$$$$$$$ away to the unemployed workers and let them spend the money on something called food and medicine and clothes and ........... instead of employing workers to destroy then rebuild a mansion

Better yet, how about taxing the rich ?

Exactly what is the Republican argument against it when the rich themselves have admitted ( IE Warren Buffet) have said such personal gain taxes would not prohibit economic growth ?

Let's say the new house is 8 Million.
What makes you think the new house is worth anything ?

Apparently, the next rich capialistic pig to buy it will just tear it down to rebuild another

Why do you feel that the 'rich ' MUST give away their money?
Why do you feel entitled to judge someones choice of spending their own money?
Did you realize the US is not a communist country ?
Why am I responding to an entitled person who feels everyone else should pay for the money -challenged ?
BTW, I am only middleclass and earn high 5 digits, so do not think I can afford these things, but will fight to allow others to have their right of choice.

A lot of narrow minded people on this board. Demolishing of homes sitting on multi million dollar properties happens every day in all parts of the world. Look in your own back yard of Toronto, it happens all the time. I'm surprised, actually shocked, that some of you have not noticed this in TO and think it's a waste of money, actually in virtually all cases they do it to make money. Bridlepath, Forst Hill, Rosedale, Kingsway, Hoggs Hollow, etc....., happens each day in these areas. People with this kind of money can afford to knock a home down and build whatever they wish because they really like the location of the land.
